HBO’s  series “The Wire” will put out short films that will provide viewers with their full back stories. Two of the shorts are devoted to the characters Proposition Joe (Robert F. Chew) and Omar (Michael K. Williams), depicting them as children who show flashes of their adult personality traits. A third short features William “Bunk” Moreland (Wendell Pierce) and Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) in McNulty’s first day on the job, according to the Hollywood Reporter. (more…)

Chris Brown is on his way to a promising acting career! Chris Brown will star as a basketball superstar in the upcoming Screen Gems film “Phenom.” Chris will play a high school hoops legend who goes pro after the media discovers he’s the illegitimate son of the NBA’s best player.  The movie will also feature “Ugly Betty” actress Vanessa Williams and Henry Simmons of the CBS drama “Shark.” Shooting is scheduled to begin early next year.

AllHipHop reports that a 26-year-old has been arrested for stabbing a childhood friend of rapper Fabolous to death inside of a Manhattan nightclub last month. Anthony Taylor , 26, was apprehended in Atlanta and is being accused of stabbing 25-year-old Shamel McKinney outside of club Duvet. (more…)

Weslyn “Mama Wes” Monroe, the mother of Pimp C, spoke to KFDM News in Port Arthur, TX about her sons death. “Pray for his family,” Monroe told the station. “He has three gorgeous children. They’ll need all the support they can get. I will, too.”  Pimp’s mom also spoke on how her son’s passing will affect the entertainment industry, to which he dedicated his life. “It’s going to be a terrible loss to the industry,” she said. “He was very intense when it came to his music. If it wasn’t absolutely perfect, he wouldn’t deal with it. He was a musical genius, and you know, geniuses are always a little strange.” Video clip:

Don Marbury, Stephon Marbury’s father, died of an apparent heart attack while attending Sunday night’s Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. Stephon Marbury, the sixth of Don’s seven children, learned of his father’s death immediately after the game and quickly left the arena without comments. Don suffered chest pains during the game and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died.Keep the family in your prayers….
