Former Dancing with the Stars contestant, Laila Ali is expecting her first child with her husband. The cohost of NBC’s American Gladiator and her former NFL player husband, Curtis Conway grace the cover of Essence Magazine’s May issue. Speaking exclusively to ESSENCE magazine for the May issue, Ali says, “I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created.” The baby is due this fall. Ali, who is 30 years of age, married Conway, 36, last July in Marina Del Rey, Carliforina. They met through a mutual friend about two years ago and never been apart ever since. She was previously married to Johnny “Yahyah” McClain who was a former boxer, but they marriage ended in 2005. Conway was also married and has three children with his ex wife. Ali expressed that her and her husband are extremely excited. “I am 100 percent undeniably happy,” Ali says. “I’ve never been able to say that before.” As far as her husband, “Curtis is very calm and has a quiet confidence, and he wanted what I wanted—to be married and have a family,” she says.
The May issue will be available in newsstands on April 5.
