LEBRON JAMES VOGUE COVER UNDER RACIAL CRITICISM!

LeBron James never would have thought his Vogue cover with supermodel Gisele Bundchen would be criticized. ESPN columnist and commentator Jemele Hill saw racist undertones in the photograph with the supermodel. Hill went on to say, “Vogue’s quest to highlight the differences between superstar athletes and supermodels only successfully reinforces the animalistic stereotypes frequently associated with black athletes.”

First glance, very manly & rough…..second glance, I can see the King Kong stereotype as well.
If he is the first black man to grace the cover, shouldn’t there be a gentleman, dressed to the nines shot???

I agree with Sassybear too… They could have picked a better picture for this cover; In hind sight the picture could have better reflected the cover story. The issue was about the secrets to the best bodies. We see how skinny Gisele is but u can not see LeBron’s body.
Ok, when I first looked at the cover I thought to myself “Oh that’s good never seen a black man on the cover of vogue before, now where’s the black female model?” For me to say there are racist undertones, I would need to know how were the other athletes depicted inside of this issue? What was in the mind of the photographer? What was the tone of the photo shoot & so on and so forth. In the end, if you want to see a cover with racist undertones and yet again another reason to be offended then YOU WILL , if you want to see a ground breaking cover and another reason to celebrate Lebron’s success as not only a black athlete but a Businessman, then YOU WILL. Beauty and what ever you want to call the cover page is in the EYE and the MIND of the beholder…
They played his coarse animalism against her lithe refinement, but I couldn’t get past the BIG mouth. Not sure what they were going after with that shot, but it’s not flattering in my opinion.
