Chris Webber announced on Wednesday that his career as a professional basketball player is officially over. Webber confirmed his retirement at a press conference yesterday. His decision was premised upon his knee injury that cut short his comeback attempt with the Golden State Warriors. “I really didn’t want to rehab and come back this season because I don’t think that was possible,” Webber said. “Plus, because the way the team is playing, the chemistry is great with these guys, they’re on a roll. I feel like they’re going to win, they have a great chance to go very far in the playoffs. I just felt it was time to let the game go and be able to be happy about what I accomplished without trying to keep coming back.” (more…)
T.I. is expected to enter a plea of “guilty” to multiple weapons charges at 1:30 p.m. today at the federal courthouse in Atlanta. When he is sentenced at a later date, Harris faces a year of prison time. Reports say that TI is expected to agree to spend a large portion of his time on community service speaking to youth groups across the country.
T.I. addressed an Easter Sunday crowd of about 30,000 at Atlanta’s New Birth Missionary Church. The ATL rapper, who is under house arrest, took the stage and delivered a sermon.
Tip reportedly told the crowd,”We’re here to celebrate the death of our Lord and Savior. He was willing to give his life for us so that we may ask for forgiveness for our sins and be forgiven and saved…no matter how many times we have to ask…or how long it takes to get it right.” (more…)
LeBron James never would have thought his Vogue cover with supermodel Gisele Bundchen would be criticized. ESPN columnist and commentator Jemele Hill saw racist undertones in the photograph with the supermodel. Hill went on to say, “Vogue’s quest to highlight the differences between superstar athletes and supermodels only successfully reinforces the animalistic stereotypes frequently associated with black athletes.”

Some say this is long overdue! Kimora Lee Simmons finally filed for divorce from her husband, Russell Simmons. The documents were filed at a Los Angeles County Superior Court Tuesday. Kimora and Russell publicly announced their separation in March of 2006. The court papers cites irreconcilable differences and Kimora asks for legal and physical custody of the couple’s two daughters, Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5. She requests that Russell Simmons, 50, get “reasonable child visitation … to be accompanied at all times by the children’s nanny and security personnel.” (more…)
Former Dancing with the Stars contestant, Laila Ali is expecting her first child with her husband. The cohost of NBC’s American Gladiator and her former NFL player husband, Curtis Conway grace the cover of Essence Magazine’s May issue. Speaking exclusively to ESSENCE magazine for the May issue, Ali says, “I don’t know yet if we are having a boy or a girl, but I’m excited that I have a life inside me that my husband and I created.” (more…)

There has been ongoing personality conflicts on the set of “America’s Next Top Model”. OK! Magazine reports that Tyra Banks isn’t getting along with the photo shoot director, Jay Manual, and rumor has it that she may consider leaving the show. “It’s gotten so bad that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told OK! magazine. She not only refuses to speak with Jay, network insiders say that she doesn’t interact with the models either. “Tyra barely interacts with the contestants and only wants to show up on judging day,” the source told the magazine. We hear that Tyra is looking for another popular supermodel to take over as host of ANTM, as she wants to concentrate on her talk show career.
