“Celebrity Gossip and Entertainment industry news”
Time Inc.’s Essence magazine and Warner Bros. TV Group have partnered up to create new programming for television and the Internet. The collaboration which will involve both WB TV and Essence.com, the home bas for the content, will relaunch late this summer. You can look out for the first projects which will be “Extra on Essence”, a series of entertainment news, and “Fab in a Flash”, a style and fashion series.
Extra on Essence will be hosted by “Extra” correspondent and weekend co-anchor Tanika Ray. The show will run five to seven minutes, according to Essence editor-in-chief Angela Burt-Murray. “Fab in a Flash” will run the same length and will be ran by the magazine staff.
Bruce Rosenblum, president of the Warner Bros. TV Group, said the goal of the joint venture, which will follow the cross-platform expansions by TMZ, is to draw on each group’s “complimentary expertise” to create content with a distinctive voice.
Telepictures president Hilary Estey McLoughlin reveals that the plan is to try out new projects on Essence.com that could develop into cable or network programming for African-American women.
“It’s really an underserved audience on the Web, and it’s one of the fastest-growing audiences on the Web,” Estey McLoughlin said. “There are tremendous opportunities.”
