The Miami Heat selected Kansas State forward, Michael Beasley, second overall in the highest draft lottery pick in the Heat’s franchise history. This put to rest trade rumors that persisted all week. ”I can sleep again,” Beasley said.
The draft lottery belonged to the freshmans this year. Memphis point guard Derrick Rose taken first overall by the Chicago Bulls, the Heat landed the 6-8 Beasley, who is considered by many the top talent in the draft, and Minnesota drafted Southern Cal guard O.J. Mayo. This was the first time that college freshmen were taken with the top three picks.
