“Celebrity Gossip and Entertainment industry news”

Okay I got another good article from my partna in crime, RiQ, regarding some shocking political news. Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, is afraid that Barack Obama will be elected as next president. You ask why? Well, If Obama (who supports the Employee Free Choice Act) wins, Wal-Mart employees might unionize. Walmart is so worried about Obama winning, the store managers have meetings trying to encourage staff to vote against him in the upcoming election. The managers may not say it directly, but the insinuation that “voting for Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama would be tantamount to inviting unions in”, according to Wal-Mart employees who attended gatherings in Maryland, Missouri and other states.
A bit of history…Over the course of its 48-year history, the company has successfully barred many attempts by Wal-Mart employees to create unions for better pay and increased benefits which has caught the attention of organizations such as Human Rights Watch, which, in an exhaustive study titled Wal-Mart Is a Poster Child For What Is Wrong With Labor Laws, declared:
Walmart doesn’t want Obama as president because of his views on Wal-Mart’s anti-union stance.
Obama said last year:
“This is a much broader issue that Wal-Mart, but I think the battle to engage Wal-Mart and for them to examine their own corporate values and what their policies and approaches are to their workers and how they are going to be good corporate citizens, I think, is absolutely vital.”
Obama went on to compare Wal-Mart to another mega-chain:
“If Costco can do that, it means Wal-Mart can do it. And if Wal-Mart does it, then what we’re going to see is other companies recognizing that they have some obligations not only to their shareholders but also to their stakeholders, and that’s workers and communities in which they’re located.”
In the article written by David Knowles, he xposed that “Wal-Mart, whose first quarter profits in 2008 rose 6.9% to a total of $3.02 billion, has not exactly shown the greatest of concern for its employees’ well-being. A veritable blizzard of lawsuits have been filed against the company regarding labor relations”
So will management of Wal-Mart stores be successful on trying to persuade their staff to vote AGAINST Obama? Well here’s what an employee had to say about it:
“The meeting leader said, ‘I am not telling you how to vote, but if the Democrats win, this bill will pass and you won’t have a vote on whether you want a union,’” said a Wal-Mart customer-service supervisor from Missouri. “I am not a stupid person. They were telling me how to vote,” she said.
With Obama in office, Wal-Mart might just get the “union” they want…
Let us know what you think about this? Do you think Wal-Mart is wrong for trying to persuade their staff to not vote for Barack Obama? Leave your comments!

I would assume that the majority of WalMart employees are non management. If that is the case then brining in a union would not be a bad idea for those employees. It will help them with more fair and accurate employee treatment. I think WalMart has a heck of a problem on there hands if they think trying to talk voters out of going union is going to work.
WalMart has been feeding off the misfortune of others for years. Everybody basically works part time so WalMart doesn’t have to chip out for healthcare, raises, 401K plans or any other benefits…someone has to make them accountable for their actions!
Walmart is going the fuck down!

Why isn’t this being talked about on a wider scale?
Wal-Mart has been a great asset to my family but that asset came with a trade. Their prices are good enough to keep my pockets heavy after grocery shopping, HOWEVER, I do not like what happens when Wal-Mart puts to many 24 hour stores in one area and completely dries up the other chain stores or mom & pop stores. That is just wrong. Especially the fact that they do not pay their employees enough or give them proper benefits. These days I am proud to say that Wal-Mart is not my first pick when I go grocery shopping.
NeoLeo was right, their stores are always dirty and they never have enough registers open.
