WomenCount, a women’s advocacy group, has asked the Democratic Party to give Ludacris a “blanket condemnation” for calling Sen. Hillary Clinton a “b*tch” in his song entitled “Politics:Obama is here” which also disses Sen. McCain (who cares), President Bush (double who cares), and Rev. Jesse Jackson.
In an e-mail Wednesday afternoon to its membership, WomenCount stated: “It is another example of hateful, sexist language being used on the campaign trail, and now is our moment to make it clear: not on our watch! The leadership of both parties must step up to condemn such hateful speech and demand apologies. The Obama campaign has criticized the lyrics, but we call on the presumptive party nominee, who is the celebrated subject of the new song, to go even further: Publicly condemn the song. Demand an apology on behalf of the targets. Now.”
“This is not an issue of being PC (Politically Correct),” states Rosemary Camposano, communications director for WomenCount, “This is about beginning the grinding and painful process of rooting out this kind of hate language and behavior whenever and wherever it exists. The Democratic leadership have pledged to unhinge our nation from gender-bias, hate-language and misogyny and we are taking them at their word.”
In its press release, WomenCount says they have embarked on a campaign called “Stop the Silence,” in which they are promoting specific language against gender bias be incorporated into the National Platform now being drafted for the Democratic National Convention.
Do you think WomenCount is overreacting? Or do you think Ludacris should apologize for his Political Song?

OH, They step up to the plate or microphone when Hillary is called a B*tch but we the people, of all nations & colors, have been subjected to this WORD for yearssssss! Videos, tv shows, radio announcers, sports authority….PLEASE!
I feel they are picking who & when to stand up, in my opinion they can sit their azzes down!!!!!
Are they f^%King serious…..if that the case they need to ask for and apology from the movie industry, the tv industry, books, shit everyone……i mean yo is the word really that bad…..if you acting like a bitch then that what you are doing….it is no different from calling someone an idiot…..it is used to define…….speak on luda…and damn the haterz at womencount……why they ain’t say nothing when the media was attacking michelle obama….what happen to them then.
I fully support O’Bama’s decision to denouce this type of behavior. What bothers me most of all is that we are so caught up in “keeping it real” and hip hop that we are not looking at the bigger picture. Every time a black person who is famous steps out in support of O’Bama they seem to put their dayum foot in their mouth and only make worse for him. If we all say that we are tired of the mud slinging and especially that O’Bama is trying to be MATURE and take the high road….something like this is NOT mature and exactly what he does not stand for. Calling Hillary a Bitch and referencing paralyzing John McCain is childish. He does not need any further negativity associated with him and it’s about time that we grown the hell up and stop supporting ignorance. This man is trying to set and example of eloquence for our people but just like that drunken Auntie or Uncle, some fool has to jump out of his place and dance a jig!
How could Ludacriss thought this song could’ve possibly helped Obama’s campaign? What da hell was he thinking? Obama already criticized the song and they’re demanding that he do it again, for what? Because they want him to? Please!!!
yo this nothing new…..whether is hurt or help a canidates chance of winning is not the issue……artist have been protesting or endorsing their canidate for a along time and have said much worse things than luda calling hilary a bitch…..we do all have freedom of speech lets not forget
honies, its not ‘every black person that steps out’. The other candidates are getting it as well, but because YOU don’t live in their circle, we don’t hear about it. The only reason we know about this is because Luda, Bernie Mac..etc are household names to us. Remember when D. cheny was running for Prez & someone let it out that his daughter was gay…did you hear the after-math to that?, did you hear about it 10 to 20 days afterwards? NO, cuz you aren’t in their circle. So don’t say, every time a black person steps out…cuz its not just US, darling!!! ITS CALLED MUDSLING…& ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARSSSSS!
Politics and music will always clash, that is how artist’s use their voice. Should Luda have called her a b!tch, that’s neither here no there because you are asking the guy who had a hit record called, “Move b!tch, get out the way” to be polically correct. No one disagreed with his lyrical banter back then, in fact, the song propelled him as a rap artist.
I do think however, if Luda wants to portray himself as an adult, giving back to the community, hosting celebrity events for kids and just becoming a spoke person for young children, then he would make sure his comments about women in high positions are tailored appropriately. I mean, those same kids in his foundation look up to him and I am sure he would not like those kids calling their mother, grandmother sister, aunt, female cousin, a female teacher or a policewoman a b!tch.
Basically,
Free speech comes with a price!
yo go-geta……..it’s sad to say but kids use foul words more than adults do…..so luda is not ruining any kids mind nor his image….it part of being human we all cuss and we all like pie…….plus if in your opinion you feel someone is a bitch then who am i to argue about it……..why are we so sensitive about words…….they can’t hurt us
Hey Neoleo,
I agree, their are kids that can cuss like nobody’s business but it is not like these kids slide out the womb cussing. Cussing is a learned behavior. These kids gotta hear cussing on on video games, movies, TV, radio, at school, sometimes at home etc etc. It is up to the adults around them to put things in perspective and correct and inform them about inappropriate language. I mean, you can’t get a job by going in the interview room cussing so if these words should not get anyone sensitive, then you should be able to cuss anywhere right?
I’m not arguing his opinion of her Neoleo, just pointing out the fact that it does not matter what he calls her, his words will allows be analyzed because he is a rapper, actor, community activist, spokesperson.
Basically, when you are in the spotlight, be prepared to be put under the microscope because as I said before…
“Free speech comes with a price!”
