Jennifer Hudson self titled album drops today!

‘‘Jennifer Hudson’’ features a gospel tribute to her days in the church choir with a rendition of ‘‘Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There’’ and a track that Diane Warren penned for the singer’s lung-busting balladeer side, ‘‘You Pull Me Through.’’ The album also includes the classic ‘‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’’ from ‘‘Dreamgirls’’ and ‘‘All Dressed in Love’’ from the recent ‘‘Sex and the City’’ soundtrack. Jennifer Hudson tells Essence X-clusively about her new engagement to David Otunga aka “Punk”. She tells Essence that she and her fiance are way to busy to plan their upcoming wedding ceremony. Essence Reports:

“We were like, ‘Okay let’s get married.’ But then I’m thinking, Wait a minute. How do you do this? Where do you start?” Hudson told ESSENCE.com. “I don’t have a clue at all where to begin. Plus, there’s so much going on—he has whatever he has going on and I got all of this going with my projects, so it will take some time before anything can be done.”

Otunga, a Harvard law school graduate and Chi-town native better known as “Punk” from VH1’s “I Love New York 2,” presented his dream girl with a Neil Lane diamond ring. Hudson ended her relationship with a longtime beau of nearly a decade earlier this year and was rumored to have accepted his proposal and subsequently ended the engagement.

“I have never been engaged; that was a rumor,” said Hudson. “[According to the media,] I’ve been engaged, Lord I don’t know how many times to Lord knows how many different people. For the record, this is my first engagement.” (more…)

Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is a new daddy to his first baby girl.  People magazine reports of his girlfriend, Nicole Pantenburg, giving birth on Sept. 9 to their daughter Peyton Nicole Edmonds. She arrived at 6:55 p.m. weighing 5 lbs., 7 oz.  “Nicole and I couldn’t be happier to have a new baby girl in the family,” Edmonds tells People. “And my two sons are thrilled to have a little sister.” The producer/singer is the father of Brandon, 12, and Dylan, 7, with ex-wife Tracey Edmonds. Jermaine Dupri got so drunk at his 36th-birthday party at Tenjune that he threw up in girlfriend Janet Jackson’s lap. People who attended the party said that the couple shared bottles of Ace of Spades Champagne and Patrón tequila with Ne-Yo, Busta Rhymes and Ice-T. Shortly after, JD vomited on Janet’s lap. Ms. Jackson bolted out of the scene and sped off in her chauffeured Maybach. JD ended up leaving immediately after. LOL! (more…)

Wow! MTV confirmed that they will be cancelling TRL’s ten year run…Now we hear that BET has decided to canel BET Rap City. The economy must be really bad! We hear that the show will have its last day on the air on October 26th, 2008. No word yet as to which show will be taking its place in BET’s weekly line up. (more…)

Usher has revealed the dates and cities of his highly anticipated ‘One Night Stand’ tour. The tour, which will be sponsored by Sony Ericsson, will launch in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 2nd and wrap up in Dallas, Texas on November 25th.

“I’m so looking forward to getting out there and doing what I do best…up close and personal.  I have a long-term partnership with Sony Ericsson that started back in March this year,” said Usher via a statement.  “This tour is the next phase in our relationship – and I am delighted to have them out on the road with me as the headline sponsor of the ‘One Night Stand Ladies Only’ tour.”

Celebrity disc jockey DJ AM has been released from hospital a week after he escaped a jet crash in which four people died, his spokeswoman has said. The star and former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker were the only survivors when their Learjet crashed onto a road shortly after take-off last weekend. (more…)

Jada Pinkett-Smith spoke about how her life was threatened once by a crazy fan who was obsessed with her husband.

A woman, who believed that she was married to Will, approached Jada, in Miami and threatened to kill Jada. The crazed fan was eventually apprehended by police.

“You would think it would be Will who gets them, but I always get the crazy ones. There was a woman who had a total meltdown in Miami while I was there,” Jada explains.

“It’s because I’m little. Will is a 6ft 2in, 14-stone black dude, who nobody wants to mess with. So instead they come after the little 4ft 11in chick.”

Early this year we told you that Dwayne Wade and his wife Siovaughn split up. But Dwade never really confirmed it. The media speculated that the couple were going thru some rough times because shortly after Dwade and Siovaughn had their second child, Siovaughn moved back to Chicago (her hometown) and never returned. Well Dwayne Wade opened up a lil’ about his marital situation.

During an interview with the Associated Press, Dwade askd that the public respect his privacy regarding his divorce:

“I keep my personal life my personal life,” Wade said. “You try to keep it as private as you can. When things leak out, it’s not always the truth. Some is. All you can do is continue being who you are. A lot of things have come out about me, and people are going to think what they want to think. But at the end of the day, no one knows what’s happened in my life to get to the point where me and my wife, our family, not being together.” (more…)
