Earlier this week we reported that Eva Marcille (Pigford) and Lance Gross got engaged during the holidays. In an exclusive interview with Essence.com, the couple xposed the details of the surprise engagement.

Essence.com Reports:
On Wednesday, December 24, while vacationing with their families at the couple’s favorite winter getaway spot—the Big Bear ski resort in the San Bernardino Mountains outside of Los Angeles—Marcille and Gross decided to open gifts after dinner in their rented cabin. When Marcille opened her gift—a pillow with a note attached that read: “Hope you like it. Give this pillow to the man you love and he will explain.” After taking the pillow and using it as a cushion, Gross got on bended knee and popped the big question with a 3.36-carat 1895 Pave Cartier ring at 11:30 P.M. PST.

“I was in a complete state of shock!” the 24-year-old Los Angeles native tells ESSENCE.com. “I cried. It was totally unexpected. I’m still in shock. I could not even sleep because I was afraid that I might wake up from the most beautiful dream ever.” (more…)

The New York Times is reporting that the development of a hotel backed by rap mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has been put on hold due to the ailing economy. One of Jay-Z’s business partners told the paper they have been seeking up to $370 million from various banks to begin construction but have not been successful. I’m sure things will settle come the New Year with our New President. Hang in there Jay!

John Legend celebrated his birthday with his girlfriend and friends/family at Lucky Strike in New York last night. How sweet! I think they are the cutest couple and they’ve been dating for awhile now!

Lil Wayne slipped during his performance at a Holiday Concert Tour stop in Chicago…LOL! This is too funny!

Beyonce said in a recent interview that she hates going to parties because it seems like everyone there is spying on her. Guess she won’t be doing to much partying for New Years! “I don’t really go out much. If I wasn’t a celebrity then I don’t know how I would feel, but it’s not that much fun for me – it feels like I’m in a cage and everyone is watching,” Beyonce says.

The “Diva” admitted that she has had some exceptions, though: “Whitney Houston had a birthday party years ago. She sent the girls in Destiny’s Child personal invitations. We didn’t even know she knew us, so we were ecstatic. We put our money together and flew to New York, dressed up and went to the party and we met her. Diddy loves to stay in the public spotlight. Ciroc Vodka and Diddy have decided to team up with New York City Tax & Limousine Commission and E! Networks to give away free cab rides on December 31st. “New York is the world’s most iconic New Year’s Eve City,” Diddy tells New York’s Daily News. “So let’s lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn’t just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely.”

For all you New Yorkers who will be drinking, Ciroc Vodka reps will be handing out $15 debit cards in Time Square beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday night…

Who watched “The City” Monday on MTV. The spinoff of “The Hills” show documents Whitney’s move to the Big Apple as she takes on a job opportunity at DVF. She also reconnect with Jay, a “love interest” she met while visiting New York during “The Hills” season.
