QUESTION OF THE DAY: SHOULD OBAMA USE BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA WHEN SWORN IN?

Can they give our President-elect a break!? Jeez, HI HATERS! President-elect Barack Obama says he plans to use all three of his names when he takes the oath of office in January. This stirred up controversary because he will be using his middle name “Hussein” which was was rarely used during the campaign except by critics.

The Chicago Tribune and L.A. Times asked President-elect Barack Obama in his first post-election newspaper interview: “Do you anticipate being sworn in as Barack Obama or Barack Hussein Obama?”

Obama replied, “I think the tradition is that they use all three names, and I will follow the tradition, not trying to make a statement one way or the other. I’ll do what everybody else does.”

During his campaign, Obama’s middle name was taboo and critics wouldn’t stop talkin’ about it. The Associated Press reported at the time, “Asked whether the use of Obama’s middle name — the same as former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein — is proper, McCain said: ‘No, it is not. Any comment that is disparaging of either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama is totally inappropriate.’”

My opinion, this is our President-elect’s name…He should be able to do what he wants to do and use the name that was given to him by his parents! Why change it because it shares the same name as Saddam Hussein…I don’t understand why they are making this such a big deal!?

How do you feel? Should our President-elect be sworn is as his real name Barack Hussein Obama or simply as Barack Obama?

  1. Barrack Obama is all that should be used.

  2. FACE.THE.TRUTH.2009

    Why?

People are still naming their children Jeffrey, Charles etc., and these were birth names of serial killers. Pure ignorance and disrespect!

They need to stop being so doggone petty about stuff! His middle name was known to everyone when he was elected, so why have a problem with it? It’s his name….get over it….

  4. mjahid hussein yusuf

matter fact thats my middle name too, aint nuttin wrong widdit, its just an arabic name, and if black people are to stick to their real roots, they’ll all have arabic names, Because 90% of the slaves that was brought from west afrika to the amerikaz were well educated muslims full of islamic knowledge with arabic names and they cud all read and write in arabic but then the white man brain washed them, gave em his religion, gave em his names and alot more……VERY SAD HISTORY, EVERYBODY LETS READ HISTORY AND SEE WHAT REALLY WENT DOWN, WE REALLY NOT WHAT WE THINK WE ARE, NOT A BIT.

Man, would they leave the man alone. They make it seem like he wasn’t born with this name. I don’t see a problem with it. A name is a name, it doesn’t define who a person is. I agree with Face.the.Truth.

I don’t care what name he uses, he’s still a SLIM SMOOTH CAT W/ A PIMP WALK & THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT. They can call him KOTA KINTAY – but he’s here to stay!!!!!!!!!!

HE SHOULD BE SWORN IN WITH THE NAME HIS MOTHER GAVE HIM…ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE UNCIVILIZED…

  8. chillin nigga

I think they should use his whole name. When blacks applied for apartments with ethnic names they get dissed back in the day. Know you got a “AFRICAN”american renting the most prized property in white america. I just wish Niggas would wake up and pay close attention because his name has more meaning then most would think. Read the Jewish bible “original” Text with a Rabbi then cross reference it with the christian bible and quaran…the translation will shock you. It got me back in church…big time!

We are not swearing in Saddam Hussein; we are swearing in Barack Obama, who was ELECTED PRESIDENT BY THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, regardless of what his middle name is. He should use his middle name proudly because that is who he is. Anyone who says otherwise is petty and foolish.

  10. I think it would be wise for him to omit his middle name. it has evil connotations.

  11. He should leave out his middle name while being sworn in. He came to prominence with only two names: Barack Obama. Including his middle name would be not only unnecessary, but provocative.
