Had enough of the reality shows already? Well this one is with a bit of a twist. Former NFL star, Michael Irvin is teaming up with producers of NBC’s The Biggest Loser to launch a reality show which will document 12 football prospectives to fight for the spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ 80 player training camp roster. The show doesn’t have a title yet, but we hear that it will air on Spike TV in the spring. The show will follow six receivers who will go against six defensive backs in a sports NFL version of “Survivor” reports the Dallas Morning News. The show will also feature former Cowboy stars like Deion Sanders and Jerry Jones.
 
“I’ve been waiting to do this since the first time I watched American Idol,” Irvin told the Dallas Morning News Thursday. “American Idol is about singing and dreams. This is about football and dreams.” (more…)

LisaRaye McCoy-Misick went from a fairy-tale life to the harsh reality of a “very public” split from her husband. The First lady of Turks and Caicos is now preparing for her pending divorce from her husband Premier Michael Misick. As we previously reported last year, the couple was involved in a domestic violence incident that occured at their home. LisaRaye spoke exclusively with ESSENCE.com about what really went down. Check out some excerpts from the interview:

ESSENCE.COM: Nice to hear from you. You’ve laid low since all the hoopla surrounding your marriage to Turks and Caicos Premier Michael Misick. How have you been holding up?
LISARAYE McCOY-MISICK: Why is it that people don’t embrace one another when we’re going through a tough time? Some of the things I read about me were so wrong and hurtful, but I am fine. It’s okay to move forward because things happen. Does it hurt? Yes. Am I disappointed? Incredibly. But this too shall pass.

ESSENCE.COM: Is it difficult to go through rough times publicly, especially with a spouse.
LISARAYE: Yes. There is a law in Turks and Caicos that you must remain married for three years before you begin any kind of divorce proceedings. If you want to get a divorce before that you have to be able to prove certain things that will grant you the right to do so. (more…)

So we hear from Necole Bitchie that Lil Kim finally got to see the movie Notorious, even though she said she wanted nothing to do with going to see the biopic. Of course she is still unhappy as to how she was potrayed in the movie. According to a note on her facebook page, Lil Kim pens:

I feel like I was not portrayed how I should have been in this movie. I was in love with BIG and he was in love with me. I was never a JUMP-OFF, I know this and BIG knew this. I wasn’t even able to choose who I wanted to portray me in this movie. I would have never picked Naturi, she doesn’t have a Lil Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities. Watching her on-screen was so “dreadful” as Simon Cowell would say. She is tasteless and talentless. Never once did she contact me for input or to get a feel of me for the character. A “TRUE” actress would contact the source to be the best they can be in portaying someone. That told me right there, she wasn’t right for the part and not to mention, Naturi has got to be one of THE worst actresses I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe they chose her. I really can’t! (more…)

There is no question that Lil Wayne had a successful 2008 with his multi-platinum record, Tha Carter III. It would only be right for Weezy to prepare himself for an outstanding follow up. We hear his upcoming album will be entitled “Rebirth”, but let me warn all his fans that this album won’t be the usual. MTV News has confirmed that the anticipated follow up which will be released on April 7th will be a ROCK album from beginning to end. We reported last week that TY, the maker of the famous Beanie Babies, came out with two dolls called “Sweet Sasha” and “Marvelous Malia” as part of their TyGirlz collection. I knew it was a scheme to get rich off of this historic moment. But a rep from TY insisted that the dolls were not based on President Obama and the First Lady’s daughters. Nevertheless, First Lady Michelle Obama is furious about the dolls.

“We believe it is inappropriate to use young, private citizens for marketing purposes,” the First Lady’s press secretary, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, said in a statement Friday.

Kanye and Louis Vuitton director, Marc Jacobs, finally revealed some of the Kanye West Collection during fashion week in Paris. During an interview, Kanye West explained the inspiration behind the eclectic collection:

“I was inspired by the movie Dune. The collection had all these jackets that were very padded. They looked like maybe they had hockey pads in the jacket, and there was one where the collar came up really high. I took that element, and I put that on the back of the shoe. It’s like the opposite of the tongue. Usually you have the tongue at the front. [This is] like a tongue at the back.”

“To me, Louis Vuitton is the most important brand in fashion. I am proud to have collaborated with LV on these shoes and even more proud of the finished product”, ‘Ye continued.
