I’m sure all you 80’s babies remember Mijac’s Thriller! The 14-minute video of Michael Jackson’s song “Thriller” will be developed into a musical theater production with the full blessing of Michael Jackson himself. Titled “Thriller The Musical,” the effort will include songs from “Thriller” and Jackson’s 1979 album “Off The Wall.” Love that album!

Now we hear that Mijac is being suied by the person who co-wrote and directed the video in 1983. The suit was filed last week in L.A. Superior Court. John Landis, who filed the complaint, says in the suit “After a spectacular theatrical premiere, the ‘Thriller’ video became a worldwide megahit and an iconic pop culture phenomenon that has continued to generate profits for defendants Optimum Prods. and Michael Jackson, who have wrongfully refused to pay or account for such profits to plaintiff”.

In semi-related news, we hear that Janet Jackson has now had to cancel the Japanese leg of her Rock Witchu tour – this time due to the sinking global economy. As you may recall, the U.S. leg was shut down due to her bout of an alleged case of vertigo.
