Tyler Perry should be a happy man! “Madea Goes To Jail” had the biggest box office opening of Perry’s career! “Madea Goes To Jail” topped the weekend’s films with a $41.1 million debut.
According to the Associated Press, studio estimates put the film’s earnings as the grossing film ever for both Perry and the film’s studio, Lionsgate. Since Perry’s 2005 “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” the actor-director-producer has frequently opened films strongly, despite little mainstream recognition. His previous best opening weekend was for his second film, “Madea’s Family Reunion,” which started with $30 million in 2006. Four of Perry’s seven films have made their debut at No. 1.

With a $41.1 Million Dollar Debut Tyler Perry proves that he’s a major force in Black Cinema. this is amazing especially during a recession when times are hard like they are now, with people losing their Jobs,Homes and Cars they still desire to laugh to take their minds off our current economic situation.
