Michael Phelps, who won a record eight gold medals for swimming at the Beijing games last summer was pictured inhaling from a marijuana pipe recently. The picture that was published in News of the World is causing a lot of controversy. In an official statement, Phelps apologized to his fans and the public.

“I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment,” the all-time Olympic swimming champ said Sunday in a statement released by his marketing agency, Octagon.

“I’m 23 years old, and despite the successes I’ve had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.”

So everyone is wondering will he lose his millions of dollars in endorsement deals? Should he? What do you think?
