A man that works for Akon’s producer said that he was the victim of a home invasion by men representing for Suge Knight. Christopher Walker, an employee of Akon producer Detail, said that five men broke into the Van Nuys, CA home at about 3am and stole about $170,000 in jewelry. Walker stated that the men threatened to kill everybody in the house if they weren’t given the key to a safe that contained the jewelry. The men also took stereo equipment, a key to a Mercedes Benz and goods that equated to about $300,000. Walker said this home invasion was the direct result of an altercation that happen during NBA All-Star Weekend in Arizona.
XXL magazine asked Akon about the incident, and he said this:
“Well actually I just got out of the country and I flew in this morning and when I flew in this morning and all these people came at me all at one time and I haven’t stopped to actually figure out what’s going on,” he told XXL. “So we’ve been getting information from so many different sources and I’m still trying to get to them myself. I haven’t had a chance to speak with him just to figure out exactly what’s going on and how it all started.”
Akon said in the past he’s never had any problems with Knight. “We’ve always been cool,” he shared. “We’ve always never had no issues ever. We’ve always had basic conversations and he’s a cool dude, always welcomed us when we came to L.A and vice versa.”
