On Tuesday, a judge agreed to dismiss the drug charges brought against rap star Lil Wayne.  As you may recall, Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was arrested during the summer of 2006 at his hotel. Atlanta Police say they found bottles of hydrocodone and a generic form of Xanax along with marijuana.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson granted the rapper’s request to suppress evidence on the basis of an illegal search. Wayne’s attorney says he was not staying in the room when the arrest was made, so they couldn’t prove the drugs were for him.

Although Wayne’s worries are over in Atlanta, he still faces drug charges in Arizona when he was arrested in January 2008 and weapon charges he is facing in New York from a 2007 pending case.
