Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z has teamed with Parlux Fragrances to introduce two new perfume labels, one for rap star Kanye West and the other for R&B songbird Rihanna. Parlux makes perfumes and accessories for Paris Hilton,
Jessica Simpson, GUESS?, Queen Latifah, Andy Roddick and others. Kanye West and Rihanna’s fragrances are due in stores in 2010. Why do music industry artists either come out with clothing lines or perfume labels?

Parlux CEO Neil Katz adds that working with the likes of Jay, Rihanna and Kanye is, quote, “undoubtedly going to make an indelible impression in the fragrance industry.” The artist won’t recieved direct cash for the sales of the fragrance, but they plan to be paid in royalties such as profit sharing and Parlux stocks in return for the sales.
