Absolutely the internet has killed journalism. With sites like Twitter that allow you to put something out there in a matter a seconds – true journalist are grabbing the story and going with what they have at that moment without taking the time to investigate the facts… But they can’t wait to investigate a story while the rest of the world reads about it on twitter and many blog spots… Now it is posted and stays there until someone corrects it or puts an attorney on them to remove it from a website. The internet while being an awesome source of communication and information it is also a tool to ruin people’s lives by placing information out there that will remain forever..And even if a story is forced to be pulled their will always be a written document somewhere showing that it was once there… The lies and untruths even after being investigated never really go away. Journalism is basically dead as we knew it before the internet. Time is of the essence with news these days and it will take a true talented journalist to develop a way to get the facts confirmed and information out to the public while it’s still relevant. While we have many informative news sites like CNN I’m not sure yet which one has the best record of factual information in a timely matter. The fact is that it is the bloggers such as PerezHilton, TMZ and MISSXPOSE that post information fast quick and in a hurry all the time – and will get repeat visitors because of this. Not to mentioin the adds listed on these sites that pay that blogger for clicks which is more incentive for fast post. These sites while being mostly for entertainment, they also dabbel in politics and this only adds to the benefits of visiting their sites. They can post it and correct it later if it’s wrong. If CNN post something wrong they are more likely to be sued or someone will lose a job. The only person that can fire a blogger is often times that blogger.
