Congrats to Shyne. New York Rapper Shyne was released from prison today after serving more than eight years for his role in a 1999 New York night club shooting involving mentor Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and actress Jennifer Lopez.

Shyne, real name Jamal Barrow, as sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2001 for weapons charges stemming from a high-publicized 1999 shooting at Club New York involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez. During his eight year stint behind bars, the former Bad Boy protege has been shuttled between upstate New York correctional facilities at Woodbourne and Clinton and released two albums, his 2001 self-titled debut and 2004’s Godfather Buried Alive.

Beware DIDDY!

“It’s a blessing that he’s coming home,” Combs said in a recent radio interview on Hot 97 in New York. “I spoke to him like a couple of weeks ago and he sounded like he was in good spirits.”

I’m surprised he was cordial to Diddy, because Shyne took the rap for this incident…Anywho, I wish him the best…I actually loved his music back then!
