GQ has crowned President Barack Obama “Leader of the Year”. The President will be on one of five covers (one per nominee) for magazine’s December issue. The honor is part of GQ’s “Men of the Year” roundup which also highlights Clint Eastwood (”Badass of the Year”), Tom Brady (”Comeback of the Year”), the “Hangover” guys (”Funnymen of the Year”) and Chris Pine (”Breakout of the Year”).

In its first-ever list of the world’s most powerful people, Forbes has ranked President Barack Obama No. 1, ahead of such luminaries as Pope Benedict XVI  (No. 11), Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (No. 17) and Oprah Winfrey (No. 45).

Over the weekend, Black Men in the Age of President Obama aired on CNN. One year after the historic election of President Barack Obama, CNN, HLN and Essence Magazine took a look at his impact on black men in America. 

Obama has urged black men to take responsibility for their lives and families and he’s called on all Americans to volunteer to help restore their communities. Michelle Obama looks glamorous on the cover of Glamour’s December issue, marking the first time a First Lady has every graced the magazine’s front.

Congrats! In the interview with the popular magazine, the First Lady discusses being a role model and event gave some advice on “dating”.

She says, “Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul…When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”  Good advice!!!

Michelle Obama on being making yourself priority as a role model. She notes, “One thing that I’ve learned from male role models is that they don’t hesitate to invest in themselves.” And she advises everyone to take cues from the role models in their own lives instead of the ones on the movie screens.

But what about the public’s fascination with her wardrobe? Mrs. Obama isn’t too worried about meeting others’ expectations. “People are always going to have opinions, and people have a right to their opinions, particularly when you’re the First Lady; you’re representing the nation,” she says. “So I can’t be surprised that people are interested. But I’ve tried to be at peace with the choices that I make first, and then be open to everyone else’s reflection.”

The outfit the First Lady wore on the cover was from her own closet, and no designer will be credited in the magazine. GO GIRL! 

How cute is this! Above is the “official” White House family portrait. The photo, which was taken by famed photographer Annie Liebovitz, was released on White House’s Flickr page last week although the photo was taken back on September 1st.

This potrait will be used in upcoming issues of history books. The First Black Family in the White House…This still moves me!

Michelle Obama beamed into “The Jay Leno Show” this Friday via Satellite from Washington for the “Ten @ Ten” segment, in which guests answer 10 questions from the host rapid fire style.

When Leno asked the First Lady what Malia and Sasha would dress up as on Halloween, Michelle joked that that information is classified.

“I think that’s top secret. You need security clearance for that,” she said.

The first lady, who is known for her toned arms and fashion sense, has her own action toy. US toymaker, Jailbreak Toys, will release the doll next month and they expect it to be a big seller for Christmas outselling the doll of her husband, President Barack Obama. The company has already marketed a Barack Obama action figure selling over 200,000 since being launched in 2008.

The Michelle Obama doll comes with three outfits, including the purple dress she wore on the day Pres. Barack Obama landed the Democratic nomination.

The White House became “La Casa Blanca” on Tuesday, celebrating Hispanic musical heritage with a South Lawn concert. Guests such as Gloria Estefan, George Lopez, the Bachata music group Aventura, Jose Feliciano and more performed.

President Barack Obama said Latin music, while hard to define because it comes in so many forms — from salsa to merengue and Bachata to reggaeton — speaks to everyone in a language they can all understand.

“It moves us, and it tends to make us move a little bit ourselves,” Obama said in brief remarks before the infectious rhythms began pulsating on the White House grounds. “In the end, what makes Latin music great is the same thing that’s always made America great. The unique ability to celebrate our differences while creating something new.”

The evening closed with the Obama family on stage dancing with the band and Jennifer Lopez.

Our President Barack Obama is the 2009 recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize! Nobel Committee shocked the World, especially the HATERS by Awarding Obama’s “Extraordinary” Diplomacy less than 1 year into his 1st term! CONGRATS!!! (see video aftre the jump)

Here’s what the committee had to say about it:

“He has created a new international climate. We are awarding Obama for what he has done. Many other people and leaders and nations have to respond in a positive way.”

Chairman Thorbjorn Jagland added, “We are not awarding the prize for what may happen in the future but for what he has done in the previous year. We would hope this will enhance what he is trying to do.”

Here’s what President Obama had to say:

“I am both surprised and deeply humbled,” Obama said at the White House.

“I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments. But rather as an affirmation of American leadership. … I will accept this award as a call to action.”

“This award is not simply about my administration,” he said. It “must be shared” with everyone who strives for “justice and dignity.”

Former President Bill Clinton opened his Clinton Global Initiative on Tuesday with a speech from President Obama, and appearances from singers Alicia Keys and Usher – both on behalf of the respective charities.

The Fifth Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together leaders in politics, business, science, academics and religion to discuss global issues such as climate change and peace in the Middle East.

Pretty somber day today as the Nation pauses to reflect 8 Years after terrorist attacks. According to the Washington Post President Obama marked the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks since his election with a national call to public service, a wreath-laying and a solemn moment of silence.

We along with Americans across the country will honor the victims and heroes of the 9/11 tragedy during the first-ever federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

CNN reports that many conservatives are enraged over Obama school speech (seen above). The White House said the address, set for Tuesday, and accompanying suggested lesson plans are simply meant to encourage students to study hard and stay in school. Whats wrong with that?

Conservative parents say that its pure BS….They’re convinced the president is going to use the opportunity to press a partisan political agenda on impressionable young minds.”

“Thinking about my kids in school having to listen to that just really upsets me,” suburban Colorado mother Shanneen Barron told CNN Denver affiliate KMGH. “I’m an American. They are Americans, and I don’t feel that’s OK. I feel very scared to be in this country with our leadership right now.”

BTW, for the 3rd consecutive time, FOX is the lone broadcast network that has opted out of carrying a
primetime speech from President Obama. Racist Muthersuckers!

President Barack Obama issued a proclamation declaring Aug. 30 through Sept. 5 National HBCU Week. This week will celebrate the accomplishments and honor the many contributions of black colleges. This is great!

“These institutions will play a key role in reaching our ambitious national education goals, including having the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. As our Nation strives toward this goal, we invite HBCUs to employ new, innovative, and ambitious strategies to help the next generation of Americans successfully complete college and prepare themselves for the global economy ” expressed President Obama.

“During National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week, we recommit ourselves to never resting until equality is real, opportunity is universal, and all citizens can realize their dreams”, President Obama said.

Vanity Fair has chosen President Obama and his wife, Michelle, as part of this year’s Best Dressed List, joining a list of luminaries that includes Alicia Keys, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway. Vanity Fair will also have Michael Jackson on half of their distribution and Farrah Fawcett on the other half in honor of the two icons.

Happy Birthday to our President Barack Obama. He turns 48 today!!! Our President won’t be spending time with his family today as he is scheduled to have lunch with the Senate Democrats to “talk about the priorities that they have, to talk about what has been accomplished in the first 6½ months of the administration,” spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday.

It has been reported that a Boston Police Department officer was put on suspension for allegedly writing a racially charged e-mail about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. to colleagues at the National Guard, according to a law enforcement official. Officer Justin Barrett referred to the scholar as a “jungle monkey” in the letter, written in reaction to media coverage of Gates’s arrest July 16.

Police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll says Barrett, 36, who’s been a cop for two years, was stripped of his gun and badge and faces a termination hearing in the next week.

In related news, President Obama will meet with Professor Gates and Officer Crowley this evening relative to Gates’s controversial arrest on July 16. We’ll keep you posted.

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, is rocking a new hair cut. Do you like it? She is so fierce to me!

This is just plain ol’ sad and makes me furious. Racist comments were posted on the Conservative Free Republic blog regarding a photo of Malia, President 11 year old daughter, who was wearing a t-shirt with a “peace” sign in front of it. I couldn’t believe the racist remarks in the feeback section of the blog. Amongst the many offensive comments were: “A typical street whore.”  “Ghetto street trash.” “Wonder when she will get her first abortion.” 

 I can’t friggin’ believe this mess!

The thread was accompanied by a photo of Michelle Obama speaking to Malia that featured the caption, “To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds.”    

I am so blown away. We gotta do something about this Miss Xpose readers.

According to EURWEB, Conservative Free Republic, according to the Vancouver Sun, is commonly considered one of the prime online locations for U.S. Conservative grassroots political discussion and organizing – and for a short time, the comments seemed to have the okay of site administrators.      

Moderators of the blog left the comments – and commenters – in place until a complaint was lodged by a writer doing research on the conservative movement, almost a full day later.
“Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?” wrote one commenter.      

“They make me sick …. The whole family… mammy, pappy, the free loadin’ mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin’, and especially ‘lil cuz… This is not the America I want representin’ my peeps,” wrote another.      

There was only ONE comment out of the thread that expressed the remarks were inappropriate. Everyone else was having a “racist” field day on the blog. This is just so disturbing man!
