Pretty somber day today as the Nation pauses to reflect 8 Years after terrorist attacks. According to the Washington Post President Obama marked the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks since his election with a national call to public service, a wreath-laying and a solemn moment of silence.

We along with Americans across the country will honor the victims and heroes of the 9/11 tragedy during the first-ever federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. (more…)

CNN reports that many conservatives are enraged over Obama school speech (seen above). The White House said the address, set for Tuesday, and accompanying suggested lesson plans are simply meant to encourage students to study hard and stay in school. Whats wrong with that?

Conservative parents say that its pure BS….They’re convinced the president is going to use the opportunity to press a partisan political agenda on impressionable young minds.”

“Thinking about my kids in school having to listen to that just really upsets me,” suburban Colorado mother Shanneen Barron told CNN Denver affiliate KMGH. “I’m an American. President Barack Obama issued a proclamation declaring Aug. 30 through Sept. 5 National HBCU Week. This week will celebrate the accomplishments and honor the many contributions of black colleges. This is great!

“These institutions will play a key role in reaching our ambitious national education goals, including having the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. As our Nation strives toward this goal, we invite HBCUs to employ new, innovative, and ambitious strategies to help the next generation of Americans successfully complete college and prepare themselves for the global economy ” expressed President Obama. Vanity Fair has chosen President Obama and his wife, Michelle, as part of this year’s Best Dressed List, joining a list of luminaries that includes Alicia Keys, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway. Vanity Fair will also have Michael Jackson on half of their distribution and Farrah Fawcett on the other half in honor of the two icons.

Happy Birthday to our President Barack Obama. He turns 48 today!!! Our President won’t be spending time with his family today as he is scheduled to have lunch with the Senate Democrats to “talk about the priorities that they have, to talk about what has been accomplished in the first 6½ months of the administration,” spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday.

It has been reported that a Boston Police Department officer was put on suspension for allegedly writing a racially charged e-mail about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. to colleagues at the National Guard, according to a law enforcement official. Officer Justin Barrett referred to the scholar as a “jungle monkey” in the letter, written in reaction to media coverage of Gates’s arrest July 16.

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, is rocking a new hair cut. Do you like it? She is so fierce to me!

This is just plain ol’ sad and makes me furious. Racist comments were posted on the Conservative Free Republic blog regarding a photo of Malia, President 11 year old daughter, who was wearing a t-shirt with a “peace” sign in front of it. I couldn’t believe the racist remarks in the feeback section of the blog. Amongst the many offensive comments were: “A typical street whore.”  “Ghetto street trash.” “Wonder when she will get her first abortion.”
