BET returns to beautiful Riviera Beach in West Palm Beach, Florida for the network’s signature spring break music extravaganza SPRING BLING ‘09. Viewers should prepare to get drenched by the hottest performances and sun-soaked competitions ever to hit one dynamic stage.

For two days of non-stop fun, SPRING BLING fans will experience popular episodes of REVAMPED (segments showcasing the hottest dance acts across the country, accompanied by live performances); GET TO STEPPIN (fast-paced competition between the best step teams in the nation); SPRING BLING THIRD WHEEL (a unique dating show with a twist); HAIR & MAKEUP (a behind-the-scenes access to the hottest hairstylist and makeup artist duo, Dr. Boogie and Unique London); DO IT OR DON’T (a “get physical” competition and trivia game testing your boldness); and the BET fan favorite BEACH TOWEL THROWDOWN (featuring performances from the today’s biggest names in hip-hop and R&B).

Will you be tuning in?

BET will premiere the sixth season of “College Hill” on March 24, this time set in Miami Beach with eight university students living under one roof. “College Hill: South Beach,” according to the network, includes “Brandon, the eye candy; Tiffany, the cheerleader; Allison, the musician; Paul, the Jamaican poet; Kyle, the aspiring publicist; Milan, the house diva and video vixen; Terri, the pageant girl; and Chris, who has dreams of being the next Sean “Diddy” Combs. One of the cast members is gay, who do you think it is?

In the first of 17 episodes, the students come together for a “meet and greet” where personalities are misread, leading to explosive outbursts. Fur flies soon after Kyle and Milan exchange salutations, leaving the rest of the co-eds on high alert for more drama to come. Later that night, Cupid’s bow strikes two roommates, but viewers are in for a surprise when romance may not be what’s lingering in the air. (more…)

This is too funny. Recently, BET correspondent Clay Cane had an interview with Lil Kim via telephone from L.A. about her new role on Dancing With the Stars, hip hop and more. The interview went well (besides the fact she was an hour late) until Mr. Cane asked her about her plastic surgeries which many of her fans want to know more about. From the nose job to the fake butt implants, people want to know why Lil Kim did it! So do I!  So when Cane asked her the big question, well…you’ll see what happened.

Here’s a lil bit of the interview:
You’ve previously said you were a fan of “Dancing With The Stars” because you saw it while you were incarcerated.  How did you make it on the actual show?

It’s really funny, maybe a couple years ago they called for me to do it, but my life was crazy a couple years ago.  It just didn’t fit in with the scheduling and all of that.  The opportunity came back around again, they called and I was so excited.  I couldn’t believe I got this second chance and opportunity. 

Do you still identify as hip-hop or do you feel like you’ve transcended that category or label?

I feel like I have a really great opportunity of balancing the two. I love both of them. It’s not an abandon type of thing so I feel like I have a great opportunity of balancing them both. 

This was a big controversy a couple months ago.  People are wondering if you have gotten a chance to see “Notorious” yet and what did you think of it?

I don’t really want to talk about that right now, but at the end of the day everybody knows I’m very unhappy with it.  I was never asked to be involved.  The girl that played me never tried to reach out.  Everybody knows my feelings on it.  I stand totally against the movie. The movie to me and to a lot of people who was around in that era is a lot of false things.

Let me ask you this Kim, this is a big question that we get from everybody and you can decide if you don’t want to answer it or not.  There is a perception in the African-American community that Lil’ Kim didn’t like the way she looked as a Black woman so she got plastic surgery to make herself look less Black.  What’s your reaction—

BET’s “Rip the Runway” will be taping their show at the famed Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City tomorrow, Saturday (Feb. 21) at 7 p.m. The runway show will be hosted by actress and model, Joy Bryant and “Notorious” star Derek Luke. As you know, “Rip the Runway” showcases the latest trends in fashion, hip accessories and music. The special’s fifth season will feature designs from Akoo, Protege’, Korto Momolu (from Bravo’s “Project Runway”) LOVE HER, and Johnny Vincent Swimwear. “Rip the Runway” will premiere March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Check out the trailer for BET’s new reality series “Harlem Heights”. Hope its better than Baldwin Hills, this season sucks! My opinion! Anywho, Harlem Heights, a half hour reality docu-drama, highlights the ups and downs of several young, African-American professionals struggling to balance hectic work schedules with complicated social lives. The series is set to premiere Monday, March 2nd at 10pm EST. It looks pretty good!

BET’s reality program “Harlem Heights,” which debuts March 2, is about a group of black young educated professionals living and working in New York. Amongst the cast is Brooke Crittendon, the former fiancee (the first one) of rapper Kanye West. Crittendon, a former assistant at MTV, said her reason for doing the reality show was because she felt misunderstood as the girlfriend of a celebrity, the New York Daily News reports. “Because I played the background to the person I was dating, I had to go through people saying things about me or assuming who I was. I just wanted to let people know who I am and what I really do. I’m not just this person’s girlfriend,” she said.

BET Honors ceremony will take place on January 17th to kickoff the inauguration of America’s first black president, Barack Obama. BET will also be holding their firest ever Inaugural Ball! Tyler Perry and Mary J Blige will be saluted at the second annual BET HONORS. Majic Johnson, South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburn, and others were also chosen to recieve the prestigious award. The event will be hosted by actress Gabrielle Union and will broadcast on the network on February 9th at 9 p.m. EST.  (more…)
