Who watched the BET Awards last night? The event went down at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles yesterday, and Rappers Lil Wayne and Kanye West were the night’s BIG WINNERS. Both rappers won multiple awards, with West winning the Best Hip-Hop Award. During his acceptance speech, the Chicago born rapper brought out Lil Wayne, who was nominated for the same award. “It feels good, like a family reunion to stand on stage with Lil Wayne, my fiercest comp,” Kanye West said, with Wayne at his side. “Congratulations for selling over a million records.” (more…)

D.L. Hughley hosts the 2008 BET Awards, airing live at 8 EST tonight on Black Entertainment Television. BET viewers are asked to vote for their favorite video online at www.bet.com. BET Awards ‘08 has announced that D.L. Hughley has been chosen to host the June 24 ceremony. The show will be broadcasted live at 8 p.m. from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Artists recently added to the performance lineup include Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Chris Brown and Young Jeezy. They’ll join opening act Usher, Nelly, and closing act Lil’ Wayne. Are you excited to see this?
T-Pain received five BET Award nominations Thursday to lead the entire pack this year. Funny thing is that none were for his own songs!
He received three best collaboration nominations for lending his electronically-manipulated voice to Chris Brown (”Kiss Kiss”), Kanye West (”Good Life”) and Flo Rida (”Low”), and he was nominated twice in the video of the year category. “T-Pain is everywhere,” BET Executive Vice President Stephen Hill told The Associated Press. Chicago’s Kanye West earned three nominations, as did Keyshia Cole, BET told AP before the official announcement on BET’s “106 & Park” on Thursday night. Mary J. BET has introduced a whole list of new programming for 2008 and 09. The lineup includes Carmelo Anthony reality show, ‘106 & Gospel’ and new ‘Keyshia Cole’ season. The networks new sloagan is “Connection You Can Feel!”…
Some of the new shows that standout and seem interesting are “The Black Panther,” an animated series produced with Marvel Comics about the first black superhero, and “106 & Gospel,” an inspirational version of the daily countdown show “106 & Park.” (more…)
Lil Wayne Performing Lollipop on BET Spring Bling!
Rumor has it that Bow Wow and Ashley R. , one of the roomates on BET’s College Hill Atlanta, have been dating. Well, Ashley R. has released a statement clearing up the rumors:
“The rumors are false. Bow Wow and I went out a few times as friends several years ago, but it was nothing more than that,” Ashley R. said in a statement released Monday by BET. “We did not date then and we’re not dating now. My boyfriend Michael and I have been together for over a year now. (more…)
