T.I.’s arrest didn’t derail the show. Multiplatinum-selling, Grammy-winning rapper T.I. was up for a leading nine awards and they performed his song without him even being there. Katt Williams returned as this years host. Performers include rap heavy hitters such as Common and Kanye West. Soulja Boy’s performance was said to be all the way LIVE. Rapper T.I. was arrested in Atlanta [October 13] by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) after he allegedly attempted to purchase three machine guns and two silencers from an undercover agent, acting as an arms dealer. In addition to the three machine guns found in his College Park home, police also recovered six additional firearms from a closet in the rapper’s house. (more…)
TODAY, October 12, Def Jam Records will hold a free concert in Atlanta featuring artists such as Jermaine Dupri, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Beanie Sigel, Freeway and DTP’s Playaz Circle. The event, billed as The Def Jam Platinum Pep Rally, will take place at Morehouse College in the Forbes Arena. The concert will kick off BET’s Hip-Hop Awards weekend and is open to all Atlanta college students free of charge.
BET founder Robert Johnson has alot on his plate already. He owns a NBA team, a film company, financial institutions, and hotels, and now he has decided to add car dealerships to his portfolio. Johnson publicly announced he is forming a new automotive partnership, with Mack McLarty, who served as chief of staff for President Clinton and Steve Landers, an experienced automotive dealer.
