American Idol seem to rule at the 35th Annual American Music Awards which aired last night. Carrie Undwerwood picked up three awards. Chris Daughtry, the other nominated Idol, joined his band, Daughtry, at the podium three times as they won favorite pop-rock album for Daughtry, as well as breakthrough artist and adult contemporary artist. “Wow. I can’t believe we’re in the category with Justin Timberlake and Linkin Park. It’s pretty awesome,” Daughtry said. The night’s other big winners included Akon (soul/R&B male), Rihanna (soul/R&B female) and Justin Timberlake (pop/rock male and soul/R&B album), who accepted his awards via satellite from Australia, where he is on tour.
Best performances of the night were Chris Brown and his dancers to “Kiss Kiss” and Alicia Key’s performance to “No One” with a reggae rendition featuring some great reggae artist including Junior Reed, Chaka Demus, etc. If you missed the performance, we got the Youtube video here for you to see below. Rumor has it that R&B Singer Ciara may release a duet album with the late Aaliyah. Some say Ciara carries many similarities to late R&B sensation, which may be why Ciara has agreed with the project. We also hear that Beyonce Knowles will be working on remaking one of Aaliyah’s most popular hits, One in A Million. I’m not sure if I like the sound of that. That song is such a classic and I don’t think anyone else could rock that song like Aaliyah did. What are your thoughts?

Pay close attention….I didn’t notice this until I heard a rumor going around hat 50 Cent blatantly dissed Beyonce on stage while she was receiving her award. In the video below…notice how Beyonce struts her “stuff” to the stage, she gives Kanye a kiss on the cheek and a hug, then leans over to give one to 50 Cent, but I think he refused to give her a kiss…which resulted in her saying “OK” before she delivered her acceptance speech. Let me know your thoughts…It seems obvious in the video that 50 Cent dissed her!
