Common was the featured “man” on BETJ’s show, Leading Men. Two of his DJ’s “xposed” Common and said that he is HEAD OVER heels in love with his boo Serena Williams. Is it the beauty or the booty Common!? LOL! DJ Dummy (I’m not jokin’- thats his name) said that Common’s new album Universal Mind Controlis is about Serena and the love he has for her. Who would of thought baseball would go hip hop? Rapper Common, is teaming up with the Chicago White Sox to help raise awareness for his non-profit organization called “The Common Ground Foundation”. Common’s organization will host the Common Ground Foundation Day with the Chicago White Sox on August 12th when the team plays the Royals. The Common Ground Foundation helps to empower youth in underserved communities and provides various life skills. A portion of every baseball game ticket purchased the day of the event will be donated to The Common Ground Foundation.

Common has leaked his new single “Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)”, which is an insight as to how his new album “Invincible Summer” will be like. U.M.C. was produced by Pharrell Williams with a sample of Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock”. “I created this music for the summertime. It’s about feeling good. Common is doing it big in the box office! The Chicago rapper just landed a high-profile role in an upcoming movie (fourth installment) of “The Terminator”. Common will star in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which is being produced by Halcyon Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. and Sony. (more…)

Common is definitely on the grind. Not only is he devoting his time to his acting career, but he has been in the studio and is prepared to release yet another album this summer entitled “Invincible Summer”. This album will be the follow up to his Grammy nominated last album “Finding Forever” with the hit single “Southside” in which he collaborated with Kanye West. I don’t know what to believe, but rumor still has it that Serena Williams and Common are dating. The couple was spotted in Miami Beach all boo’ed up…People Magazine even had something to say about it:

“The new couple were spotted Saturday night holding hands at a Knight’s Head Microbrew party at the South Beach haunt Mokai. Later in the evening, Williams, 26, and Common, 36, were once again spotted holding hands, trying to get into Prive nightclub – but failed since Common (wearing shorts) violated the hot spot’s dress policy.”

In a recent interview with MTV, Common said that he would be releasing his next album, “The Believer”, in November. He also insists that the project with Q-Tip is definitely in the works. Here’s what he had to say:

“Q-Tip and I been planning the Standard album,” he said, referring to the duo the pair have formed. “We been conceptualizing, but we just gotta continue to work on it. We will. I look at it like two jazz musicians getting together, the way Charlie Parker and cats would get together and do work. (more…)
