On Tuesday, a judge agreed to dismiss the drug charges brought against rap star Lil Wayne.  As you may recall, Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was arrested during the summer of 2006 at his hotel. Atlanta Police say they found bottles of hydrocodone and a generic form of Xanax along with marijuana.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson granted the rapper’s request to suppress evidence on the basis of an illegal search. Wayne’s attorney says he was not staying in the room when the arrest was made, so they couldn’t prove the drugs were for him.

Although Wayne’s worries are over in Atlanta, he still faces drug charges in Arizona when he was arrested in January 2008 and weapon charges he is facing in New York from a 2007 pending case.

Jimmy Kimmel had a wierd combo of celebrity guests on his show last night. Grammy Award Winning rapper Lil Wayne and renowned news anchor Charles Gibson were on his show.

The rapper talked about his $150K diamond studded teeth and his new video for “Prom Queen”.

The two also played a game of Scrabble! LOL!

Lil Wayne is known for cancelling shows at the very last minute. Well, this time he gotta pay up for it. Lil Wayne is being sued by a Concert promoter, Ed Strickland, for $1.3 Milli. Weezy didn’t show up for an October show, and nixed a December make up show. The rapper skipped out on a third date too! Weezy’s excuse was due to “band” issues. This forced Strickland to take his case to court. The no-shows have resulted in over $300,000 in bills for Strickland, General Manager of RMF Productions, who had previously advanced Wayne $100,000 back in October. His last correspondence with the rapper was via e-mail, canceling the last date.

By the way, Lil Wayne brought his girlfriend/fiance, singer Nivea, to the Grammys last night (see pic above). I guess this can put to rest speculation that the two are engaged. I believe its true you guys!

There is no question that Lil Wayne had a successful 2008 with his multi-platinum record, Tha Carter III. It would only be right for Weezy to prepare himself for an outstanding follow up. We hear his upcoming album will be entitled “Rebirth”, but let me warn all his fans that this album won’t be the usual. MTV News has confirmed that the anticipated follow up which will be released on April 7th will be a ROCK album from beginning to end. In related news, Lil Wayne leads this year’s Grammy nods with 8 nominations, including Album of The Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. Weezy will be performing at the 51st annual Grammy Awards, scheduled to air on February 8th.

Super Bowl Weekend in Tampa, FL is going to off the chain! We just got word that Lil’ Wayne will be reporting from ESPN The Magazine’s NEXT Party Red Carpet and Multi-Platinum, Grammy Award-winning musician/producer Wyclef Jean and teenage rap, reggae, pop, doo-wop sensation Sean Kingston will perform at ESPN The Magazine’s NEXT Big Weekend Presented by Ford F-150 in Tampa, FL. January 30-31.

For those of you who will be in town, be advised that Wyclef Jean will headline The Magazine’s fifth annual NEXT party Friday, January 30, 9 p.m., during Super Bowl Weekend. This private, VIP party will showcase what’s NEXT in sports, technology, lifestyle, and, of course what’s NEXT from ESPN. He refers to Kanye West as a f*%ggot and tells Oprah to suck a BLEEP for disrespecting Hip Hop. WOW!

T.I. and Ludacris will be in NYC to join Carson Daly as he hosts his New Year’s Eve Special. The show will take place in Time Square, scheduled for 10 p.m. EST on NBC.

A couple weeks ago, we told you that Lil Wayne leaked a dissed record aimed at 50 Cent entitled “Louisianimal”. “All about a dollar, f–k Two Quarters. WOW! Lil Wayne did it big in the ‘08. The rapper has eight GRAMMY nominations topping the list of all artists. Jay-z and Kanye West have six nods, and Dangermouse(?), T.I. and Lupe Fiasco both have four nominations. Lil Wayne’s album, Carter III, which was the top selling album of 2008 selling a million units in its first week out, is nominated for the ALBUM OF THE YEAR award. The competition is between Ne-yo, Robert Plant, Coldplay (love em’), Radiohead, and Allison Krause.

“The Grammy Awards process once again has yielded a comprehensive, diverse and eclectic group of excellent nominees across multiple genres,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “This year’s nominations are truly reflective of the talented community of artists and creators who represent some of the highest levels of musical excellence.”

Other notable nominees include Estelle (American Boy), Jazmine Sullivan, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Flo-Rida, T-Pain, Nas and others. So proud of Jazmine Sullivan!

Winners will be announced Feb. 8 in a ceremony that will be held at Staples Center and telecast on CBS-TV.
