Two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J will serve as a co-host for the star-studded 2008 Grammy nomination concert. The one-hour special will mark the first time that Grammy nominations have been
announced live on primetime television. The Grammy Nominations Concert: Countdown to Music’s
Biggest Night airs live December 3 on the CBS network. I guess I won’t mind watching LL lick his lips for an hour. It will be more entertaining than the boring Grammys!
Janet Jackson isn’t doing ot well with this Rock Witchu tour. LL Cool J has decided to pull out as her opening act. The rapper’s publicity firm announced Monday that he has dropped out as the headliner for Jackson because of unnamed scheduling conflicts. No opening act replacement has been announced. Jackson’s upcoming shows are Tuesday in Auburn Hills, Mich., and Saturday in New York. She is expected to announce more dates.
2008 BET Hip Hop Awards went down in Atlanta this past weekend at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. Lil Wayne was named “Lyricist of the Year” at 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards taped in Atlanta on Saturday. The show will air on BET on Thursday, October 23 at 8 PM! Check out some pictures from the event…

LL Cool J has partnered up with Sears to launch a new hip hop clothing line. The clothing line is called LL Cool J for Sears and will be catered to girls, boys, juniors, and young men. The line will be available in 450 Sears stores by September. LL already has a high end clothing line called Todd Smith. (more…)
LL Cool J will be dropping his first ever Mixtape. The mixtape is entitled “The Return of the G.O.A.T.” which was put together X-clusively by DJ Kay Slay. “A lot of people are under the misconception that LL is making those grown-and-sexy records, that he ain’t with the street vibe anymore,” Slay told MTV News’ Mixtape Monday. “I think he wanted to step back and let people know he’s still the G.O.A.T.” (more…)
LL Cool J debuted his Todd Smith clothing line on Saturday at Macy’s in Culver City, California. Here’s how he explained the thought behind his clothing line:
“The inspiration was just my personal life, personal tattoos, what I’ve been through as a man and as an artist. The actual logo is an African symbol that means bravery and fearlessness, because in life that’s what you need when you’re going after a vision. LL Cool J has some words for the president of Def Jam, Jay-Z. LL recently spoke to MTV about his frustration with Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter ever since the mogul took office. “I just don’t feel like he had the necessary experience to do that job,” LL said. “I don’t know any other record company that he worked for where he learned how to run this business.” “This is a label that started in 1984 and you just can’t give somebody a job because you want to attract talent and look sexy… because there are artists that suffer,” he continued.
