Mario is changing up is swagger after the success of his previous R&B projects. On his next LP which is currently untitled, the Baltimore native will be going with a dance/pop vibe on his next album. The songs that have been leaked thus far are HOTT! Especially the newest leak, “Green Light”, a record that was recorded last month.  Produced by Jazze Pha, the song features Thriller-esque elements, which allow the young singer to channel his inner Michael Jackson. Mario gets a lil’ personal with Essence.com about his Do Right Foundation and his mother’s drug addiction. His foundation helps kids in drug-prevalent environments cope, something that Mario had to deal with growing up. In 2007, Mario allowed MTV to capture his life with his mother who was battling a 20-year drug addiction. Mario says he fears that his mother might relapse, but channels is fears in his Do Right Foundation. R&B singer Mario had MTV cameras shadow him this summer to chronicle his efforts to save his mother from a crippling drug addiction. Did you y’all watch it last night. My best friend Rachel told me to watch it, and it was really interesting to see Mario’s REAL LIFE struggles with his mother. “I Won’t Love You to Death: The Story of Mario and His Mom,” (which aired last night) followed Mario and his mother, Shawn Hardaway, as she struggled to fight off her heroin addiction.

“It’s a documentary showing the relationship with my mother, and her obstacles that she had to overcome as an addict, a drug addict. She was addicted to heroin most of her life — she’s clean now,” Mario told The Associated Press in an interview this week. Hardaway, a pianist, was Mario’s early inspiration to delve into music, he said.  “She had a lot to do with me acknowledging music in the first place. She kept good music around,” said Mario. “She was the person who encouraged me to do those talent shows, and ultimately allowed people to see my talent.” His mother’s addiction disabled him to anjoy his musical achievements. He said that both he and his mother hope their story is one that others can relate to.
