Mos Def needs may need to leave the music behind because he seems to really enjoy the acting gigs. And he is mos def’ great at it! His new project will be making an appearance in an upcoming episode of FOX’s popular drama House. Mos Def will play the role of a man who is unable to move or communicate after awakening from a bicycle accident. The episode will air on March 23. Mos will also be playing alongside Mike Epps in the movie “Next Day Air”. The movie is set to hit the big screen on May 8th.

In music related news, Mos Def’s 4th album entitled “Ecstatic” will be released May 19th! Love this dude’s hussle!

We hear that Las Vegas police are looking for Mos Def (real name Dante Terell Smith). Def allegedly attached a fashion event photographer named Volker Corell a couple of months ago. Corell claims Smith went ballistic on him while he was taking photos of attendees at Vegas’s annual Men’s Apparel and Garment Industry Convention. Allegedly Mos snatched Volker’s camera from around his neck before smashing it to the ground and taking off with the busted equipment. And apparently the photographer was left with a cut on his left hand following the incident. A warrant has been issued for Mos Def’s arrest. (more…)

Check out the movie still pics from the Cadillac Records movie starring Beyonce (as Etta James), Mos Def, Gabrielle Union. The pictures were recently released. Exploring the 1950s musical era, the film chronicles the life of the influential Chicago-based record-company executive Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody), and the singers who recorded for Chess Records. Beyonce, 27, who also serves as executive producer, stars as the legendary blues singer Etta James. Cadillac Records opens in theaters everywhere on Friday, December 5.

Karrine Steffans aka Superhead surely started a trend. Mos Def’s ex wife is coming out with a JUICY new tell-all book. The book will reveal her sexual encounters with various professional athletes and celebrities, including Kanye West. Alana Wyatt-Smith, who is 29, plans to spill the dirt in her new book entitled “Breaking the Code of  Silence”. She talks about her marriage to Mos Def, which took place three days after the couple met in 2005. Crazy right!? Alana, who is a former stripper and a 7th grade dropout, says her book is diffrent from Karrine Steffans and Nas’ baby momma, Carmen Bryan. She said unlike them, her book uses nicknames and initials as opposed to revealing her lover’s names.   “I disagree with putting names of people in there, just out of respect for their wives and children,” Wyatt-Smith told The Toronto Star. Acclaimed lyricist Mos Def recently spoke about his dissatisfaction by the non-involvement within the hip-hop community concerning the Jena 6 demonstration. “Shame on everybody who’s not here. I’m f*cking mad. I’m disappointed to always be coming to these things and it’s only one or two people [from the music industry here]. If you ain’t gonna use your voice, then be quiet. I’m disappointed and ashamed.”
