Mos Def needs may need to leave the music behind because he seems to really enjoy the acting gigs. And he is mos def’ great at it! His new project will be making an appearance in an upcoming episode of FOX’s popular drama House. Mos Def will play the role of a man who is unable to move or communicate after awakening from a bicycle accident. The episode will air on March 23. Mos will also be playing alongside Mike Epps in the movie “Next Day Air”. The movie is set to hit the big screen on May 8th.

In music related news, Mos Def’s 4th album entitled “Ecstatic” will be released May 19th! Love this dude’s hussle!

We hear that Las Vegas police are looking for Mos Def (real name Dante Terell Smith). Def allegedly attached a fashion event photographer named Volker Corell a couple of months ago. Corell claims Smith went ballistic on him while he was taking photos of attendees at Vegas’s annual Men’s Apparel and Garment Industry Convention. Allegedly Mos snatched Volker’s camera from around his neck before smashing it to the ground and taking off with the busted equipment. And apparently the photographer was left with a cut on his left hand following the incident. A warrant has been issued for Mos Def’s arrest. He faces faces charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property. I know for sure that Mos Def doesn’t like pictures taken of him. I’ve been to an event where he clearly told my photographer to not take any pics of him…One thing I don’t understand is if you choose to be an entertainer, doesn’t paparazzi come with the package?

Exploring the 1950s musical era, the film chronicles the life of the influential Chicago-based record-company executive Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody), and the singers who recorded for Chess Records. Beyonce, 27, who also serves as executive producer, stars as the legendary blues singer Etta James. Cadillac Records opens in theaters everywhere on Friday, December 5.

Karrine Steffans aka Superhead surely started a trend. Mos Def’s ex wife is coming out with a JUICY new tell-all book. The book will reveal her sexual encounters with various professional athletes and celebrities, including Kanye West. Alana Wyatt-Smith, who is 29, plans to spill the dirt in her new book entitled “Breaking the Code of  Silence”. She talks about her marriage to Mos Def, which took place three days after the couple met in 2005. Crazy right!? Alana, who is a former stripper and a 7th grade dropout, says her book is diffrent from Karrine Steffans and Nas’ baby momma, Carmen Bryan. She said unlike them, her book uses nicknames and initials as opposed to revealing her lover’s names.   “I disagree with putting names of people in there, just out of respect for their wives and children,” Wyatt-Smith told The Toronto Star. “If this was about making money, getting rich, I could have wrote a tell-all book, 10 times better than Karrine Steffans. People want to know about the biggest names in the NBA, who proposed to who, and did what, and this and that; I could have put some stuff in there that would have made it a number one seller within days. I use nicknames, initials, that myself and the gentleman would know; the ones named I got permission from.”  Alana says she did get permission from Kanye West however, and that is why she mentioned him in her book. She did not mention when the book would be released.

Mos Def will have another acting gig under his belt. The rapper/actor will play rock artist Chuck Berry in the upcoming film Cadillac Man. The movie is currently being filmed in New Jersey. The movie is based upon the turbulent, yet exciting lives of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess and his artist under the legendary Chicago label. Gabrielle Union also was casted as Muddy Waters’, girlfriend of Geneva Wade.

Acclaimed lyricist Mos Def recently spoke about his dissatisfaction by the non-involvement within the hip-hop community concerning the Jena 6 demonstration. “Shame on everybody who’s not here. I’m f*cking mad. I’m disappointed to always be coming to these things and it’s only one or two people [from the music industry here]. If you ain’t gonna use your voice, then be quiet. I’m disappointed and ashamed.”

The rally which took place last week, also had Bun B, from hip-hop duo UGK, in attendance, who drove all the way from TX to attend the demonstration. “I’ve been privy to these small incidents of violence in these all-White towns. We were blessed to find out about the Jena Six and we’re blessed to try to make some type of impact in this community before things went too far.” , Bun B said.
