Despite his opposition to sidestepping brand partnerships, NAS just inked a one-year partnership with Fila apparel. Fila will offer reciprocal financial support for Nas’ print and TV ad campaign as well as his upcoming tour in support of his untitled album, due July 15 via Def Jam. Shaq is paying the consequences of his infamous freestyle dissing his ex-teammate Kobe Bryant. The Phoenix Suns star is a “special” deputy at the Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff’s Department, and apparently they want Shaq’s badge back! “I want his two badges back,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told the AP, “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.” As previously reported, a youtube clip of Shaq’s freestyle at a New York Club Sunday night surfaced on the web. O’Neal teased Kobe and the Lakers’ for failing to win a championship after he was traded from the team in 2004. In the rhyme, Shaq blamed Kobe for ruining his marriage when he told cops in his rape case that he “should have done what Shaq does … Shaq would pay his women not to say anything.” (more…)
Nas’ long delayed album which went from the controversial name “N*gger” to simply Untitled finally has a solid release date. The Queensbridge rapper will drop his album on July 15. The official announcement was made earlier this week.

It’s no surprise that the hip hop nation is celebrating Barack Obama’s historic run to become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Queensbridge rapper Nas has recorded a new track titled “Black President” that explores some of the difficulties Obama could face in his journey to an election victory.

Just a week after telling the media that he will no longer name his upcoming album “N%gger”, Nas revealed that he has teamed up with DJ Green Lantern to drop “The N%gger Tape”.
“I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target,” Green told Rhapsody’s Play blog regarding Nas’ title switch. “If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kind of f%cks with your artistic vision. But Nas and DJ Green Lantern are coming out with a mixtape called The N%gger Tape. Can’t nobody hold that back.” (more…)

Nas has changed the title of his forthcoming album. He previously stated that the name of the controversial LP would be “Ni*ger”. Due to the ongoing criticism, the rapper confirmed that the album will be simply UNTITLED. “It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans,” Nas said in his statement. “It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.” (more…)

Rapper Nas completely blown away when Maxim gave his new album, “Nigger,” a 2 1/2-star review. The album isn’t even finished yet. LOL! “I’m finishing the album now, and it will be out April 22,” Nas explained to Page Six. Maxim apologized for the premature review, but Nas is still pissed. “I’d prefer [a review from] Playboy,” the rapper said. (more…)
Rumors continue relative to Jay-Z’s still-unconfirmed new record label, Carter Music Group. We hear that Hov is partnering with rapper Nas on an album of duets, “The Kings of Hip Hop,” to be released on the label early next year. Representatives for Jay-Z remain tight-lipped about the contemplated project.
