The magazine says Mr. Obama has risen to “dominate the public sphere” in his short time on the national scene. It says the incoming president overcame “centuries of the social pecking order” to become the first African-American elected to the White House.

Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, is said to become an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The long time standing sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) revealed the news on Sunday that Michelle Obama accepted their invitation to become an honorary member. The sorority gathered for a weeklong celebration to commemorate its centennial anniversary in Washington, D.C.

After a grueling sixteen month campaign fight, Hillary Clinton will close the curtain on her failed presidential bid. Clinton is reportedly calling it quits and putting her support towards the Democratic nominee Barack Obama commencing this Saturday.
“Senator Clinton will be hosting an event in Washington, D.C. to thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity,” a campaign statement said. (more…)
Will.i.am won the “Webby” award for his “Yes We Can” video supporting the presidential candidate Barack Obama. Webby Awards salutes websites and online achievements. Will won the Webby Artist of the Year because of the viral effect of the controversial song that has garnered millions of hits on YOUTUBE alone. The video features Obama’s voice from his concession speech to Will.i.am’s production, and vocals from Scarlet Johansson, John Legend, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Herbie Hancock and others.
Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people included filmmaker Tyler Perry, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and singer Mariah Carey which join the likes of President Bush, the Dalai Lama and Miley Cyrus. Time Magazine announced on Thursday that the cut included 30 celebs whose appearance on the list was based soley on votes on the magazine’s website.
