Today a Manhattan Supreme Court Judge sentenced Remy Ma to eight years in prison for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph over money. She was sentenced to five years on the weapons charges and three on coercion. The sentences are to run concurrently for a total of eight years. Remy Ma was very upset with the sentence. “I’m not a thug,” Remy Ma told the judge. “I’m not a hardcore anything, I have feelings. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, big sister.” As you may recall in March a Judge found Remy Ma guilty of multiple counts of assault and weapon possession. She was also charged with witness tampering and gang intimidation, however, the Judge later threw the charges out. Remy Ma’s Supporters were also present in the court room wearing “Free Remy” T-shirts in red and white. After the verdict was announced, Remy’s family and friends walked out of the court room screaming and in tears. Papoose, her fiancé, who was also there had a shocked looked on his face when the Judge delivered the verdict. Papoose later got into an argument with court officers and had to be escorted out.  “Fuck jail,” he yelled as his friends pulled him away. “Fuck jail, lock me up. I don’t care, y’all just want money. She didn’t’ do nothing.” This is just a day after his incident at Riker’s Island where he was allegedly going to wed Remy (see earlier story).

Papoose is going to be sued by a Brooklyn volunteer ambulance service for duping them into staring in his music video…LOL.

According to the New York Daily News, the Bed-Stuy Volunteer Ambulance is claiming that Papoose put them in his video “Ambulance” which targets fellow Brooklyn rapper Uncle Murda. “His people told us the video would be about the neighborhood and how we respond to save lives,” Rocky Robinson, founder of Bed-Stuy Volunteer Ambulance, told The Daily News. “We don’t want to be a part of something where somebody gets hurt. Our image is everything to us.”

Papoose clears up the rumors posted earlier on the internet of his engagement to Remy Ma. Papoose says the two “share a friendship” but the engagement rumors are untrue. In an xlcusive interview, Papoose strictly went on record stating: “It’s not true. [We're] friends.”

OH NO! Papoose and Remy Ma got engaged this past weekend. The hip hop couple plan to exchange vows this summer if all goes well with Remy’s legal troubles. Jury selection has begun for Remy Ma’s trial for the alleged shooting of an acquaintance over money. Remy, who is 26 years of age pled not guilty to assault and related charges. Not only has the couple had to deal with legal issues, but Papoose recently had a physical altercation with Fat Joe which led to an intense beef. Remy, who was once part of Terror Squad, has released several diss records towards her former boss.

In a recent interview with San Francisco radio station KMEL on Monday (March 3), Papoose confirmed the fight rumors, adding that he put “work in” on Fat Joe.

“I’m from Brooklyn, New York, man. We don’t bow down to nobody, we don’t take no BS from nobody,” the rapper said. “This dude came at me sideways, chose to approach me with a bunch of bodyguards and all that, asked me did I have a problem with him. I asked him did he have a problem with me. We got into a scuffle, I did what I did, man. I put my work in.

“I asked the dude for a fair one, Fat Joe,” he continued. “I told him ‘Yo, listen man, let all your mans step outside, my two mans — I only had two dudes with me, he had like nine or ten with him — and me and you do the one on one. He didn’t wanna do that. He refused to do that. So we just got it on like that. I got it on with all them dudes. Don’t deny the facts. He can’t deny the fact that I put my work in.” Listen here:

Papoose/Big Von Interview

DJ Kay Slay announced that his artist and protégé Papoose has been released from his contract with Jive Records during his Streetsweeper’s Radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio last night. Slay called the one-year term that Pap was signed to the label “a year of hell” and expressed his distaste for the A&R of the company. The Brooklyn MC’s contract with Jive was reported to be worth $1.5 million.
