After her exciting win against her sister Venus at Madison Square Garden on Monday, Serena Williams is linking up with Ludacris to launch a worldwide competition to land Serena a theme song. The contest is called “Serena’s Song” and it is searching for songwriters, rappers and singers from all over the world to create original song to help motivate the tennis star. The winner will be selected by the fan communities on Ludacris’ and Williams’ official websites.

“Pop music knows no boundaries,” says Ludacris in a statement. “We’re hoping to prove that yet again with the Serena’s Song contest.”       

Willaims reveals that “Sports and music have such a powerful connection. I always see athletes including myself listening to music, while they’re getting ready for or decompressing after a match, or a race, or a game, whichever the sport.”      

Congrats to Serena who took home $400,000 for winning the inaugural Billie Jean King Cup, a one-day, four-woman event that took place at Madison Square Garden. WOW!

Serena Williams beat Russian third seed Dinara Safina 6-0 6-3 to win the Australian Open title on Saturday. GO SERENA!

I’m not sure if I can take another reality show on TV! Jeez Its gettin’ a bit ridiculous! So we hear that tennis super stars, Venus and Serena Williams have announced that they plan on starring in their very own reality show. The girls say they are in the middle of filming a reality show pilot based on their private lives. Why would they want to XPOSE that? Press asked Serena and Venus what could we expect on the show, and they said “Everything!  You’ll see how we argue and make-up…and yes, you’ll see all the juicy details of our love lives”. Venus was quick to respond to that. “Her love life.  I’m still trying to find Mr. Right…maybe this will help improve my luck”, Venus said. We even hear that one episode will show Serena hooking her sister up on a blind date with a popular rapper! LOL! The reality show pilot should be done by Spring 2009. Thereafter, they will shop it around to different networks. I’m sure they will have no issues with it getting picked up! (more…)

I love Serena Williams! The international tennis superstar opened up a school in Kenya called the Serena Williams Secondary School of Matooni, Kenya. The grand opening was last Friday. The school was built in partnership with Build African School initiative and Hewlett Packard. This school is designed to empower African students through education. “We are indeed honored to have Ms Williams visit Kenya at this momentous time in American history when we have a new President elect who has roots in Kenya,” said Mr Dickson Mutaiti, the Director of Projects Build African Schools in Kenya.

Common was the featured “man” on BETJ’s show, Leading Men. Two of his DJ’s “xposed” Common and said that he is HEAD OVER heels in love with his boo Serena Williams. Is it the beauty or the booty Common!? LOL! DJ Dummy (I’m not jokin’- thats his name) said that Common’s new album Universal Mind Controlis is about Serena and the love he has for her. After winning the US Open, Serena Williams will pen her accomplishments and life story in her upcoming memoir via Grand Central Publishing which beat out several other publishers in a bidding war for her story. The rich only get richer…so check this out…bidding reached at least $1.3 million for Serena’s tell all book.

“Serena Williams is one of the world’s most remarkable athletes,” Grand Central editor Karen Kosztolnyik said Tuesday in a statement. “We’ve watched her rise to No. 1 despite physical and emotional setbacks, and her hard work and determination have inspired legions of fans young and old. Serena will give her memoir a strong motivational slant.”
