After her exciting win against her sister Venus at Madison Square Garden on Monday, Serena Williams is linking up with Ludacris to launch a worldwide competition to land Serena a theme song. The contest is called “Serena’s Song” and it is searching for songwriters, rappers and singers from all over the world to create original song to help motivate the tennis star. The winner will be selected by the fan communities on Ludacris’ and Williams’ official websites.

“Pop music knows no boundaries,” says Ludacris in a statement. “We’re hoping to prove that yet again with the Serena’s Song contest.”       

Willaims reveals that “Sports and music have such a powerful connection. I always see athletes including myself listening to music, while they’re getting ready for or decompressing after a match, or a race, or a game, whichever the sport.”      

Congrats to Serena who took home $400,000 for winning the inaugural Billie Jean King Cup, a one-day, four-woman event that took place at Madison Square Garden. WOW!

Serena Williams beat Russian third seed Dinara Safina 6-0 6-3 to win the Australian Open title on Saturday. GO SERENA!

I’m not sure if I can take another reality show on TV! Jeez Its gettin’ a bit ridiculous! So we hear that tennis super stars, Venus and Serena Williams have announced that they plan on starring in their very own reality show. The girls say they are in the middle of filming a reality show pilot based on their private lives. Why would they want to XPOSE that? Press asked Serena and Venus what could we expect on the show, and they said “Everything!  You’ll see how we argue and make-up…and yes, you’ll see all the juicy details of our love lives”. Venus was quick to respond to that. “Her love life.  I’m still trying to find Mr. Right…maybe this will help improve my luck”, Venus said. We even hear that one episode will show Serena hooking her sister up on a blind date with a popular rapper! LOL! The reality show pilot should be done by Spring 2009. Thereafter, they will shop it around to different networks. I’m sure they will have no issues with it getting picked up!
In related news, I heard from a couple of people that Serena and Common broke up…but I really don’t think thats true. What have you heard?

I love Serena Williams! The international tennis superstar opened up a school in Kenya called the Serena Williams Secondary School of Matooni, Kenya. The grand opening was last Friday. The school was built in partnership with Build African School initiative and Hewlett Packard. This school is designed to empower African students through education. “We are indeed honored to have Ms Williams visit Kenya at this momentous time in American history when we have a new President elect who has roots in Kenya,” said Mr Dickson Mutaiti, the Director of Projects Build African Schools in Kenya.

Common was the featured “man” on BETJ’s show, Leading Men. Two of his DJ’s “xposed” Common and said that he is HEAD OVER heels in love with his boo Serena Williams. Is it the beauty or the booty Common!? LOL! DJ Dummy (I’m not jokin’- thats his name) said that Common’s new album Universal Mind Controlis is about Serena and the love he has for her. Dummy continued by saying that he never saw Common this happy even when he was in a relationship with Erykah Badu and Kerry Washington. He said that Common has it so bad that sometimes he has to slap him back into reality because he always wants to be up under Serena forgetting that he has shows and gig to do.

After winning the US Open, Serena Williams will pen her accomplishments and life story in her upcoming memoir via Grand Central Publishing which beat out several other publishers in a bidding war for her story. The rich only get richer…so check this out…bidding reached at least $1.3 million for Serena’s tell all book.

“Serena Williams is one of the world’s most remarkable athletes,” Grand Central editor Karen Kosztolnyik said Tuesday in a statement. “We’ve watched her rise to No. 1 despite physical and emotional setbacks, and her hard work and determination have inspired legions of fans young and old. Serena will give her memoir a strong motivational slant.”     

Would you be interested in reading Serena’s book?  I wonder if she will talk about her relationship with Common!

“If I had a sister and she wasn’t very good, then it would be just not really a big deal because I would beat her,” Venus said Monday, after she and Serena assured a quarterfinal matchup.

“I’m glad we’re both pretty good at it, because I always use her,” she said. “If I’m going somewhere and they give me a nice gift I’m like, ‘Well, my sister, she’s not here, but she would love that.’ If she was no good then I wouldn’t be able to do that. And I always keep it. She doesn’t even know about it half the time. I guess maybe she’ll know about it now”, Serena added.

Despite both Venus and Serena Williams previous loss, they are still unstoppable together. This past weekend the sisters faced Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain and successfully won, 6-2, 6-0.

For the second time in two tries, Venus and Serena won the doubles gold. They did the same thing eight years ago in Sydney. And they did it in similar fashion Sunday.

“I’m so excited, I can’t even speak,” Venus told the Associated Press. “To share this kind of moment with your sister, it never grows old.”

Check out star tennis player, Serena Williams, looking “oh so fab” in the September issue of Men’s Fitness Magazine. They name her as one of the ’sexiest female athletes in the world’. You go girl! The Williams sisters are currently over in Beijing for the Summer Olympics and they are on fire!

They won in singles and doubles Tuesday, and the toughest match was the one they played together. Venus and Serena rallied in first-round doubles to beat Iveta Benesova and Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Venus and Serena Williams steamrolled over their opponents at Wimbledon this week to reach Saturday’s final round together for the first time in five years. Venus Williams defeats her sister Serena in Wimbledon final…The older sibling, with a 7-5, 6-4 victory, now has five women’s singles titles in her last nine visits to the All England Club. Serenea took the loss pretty hard.

Serena Williams xposes all her “assets” on the cover of Ebony Magazine’s July issue. In the cover story, Serena talks about how she feels about hip hop artist/actor Common. As previously reported, it has been revealed that the two have been dating for quite some time.

Here’s what she says about her “relationship” with Common:

“I think [Common's] a great guy,” Serena (says). “He’s obviously a great artist who is timeless and classic. You can’t beat that. But I have to focus on tennis because that’s my goal in life.”

I don’t know what to believe, but rumor still has it that Serena Williams and Common are dating. The couple was spotted in Miami Beach all boo’ed up…People Magazine even had something to say about it:

“The new couple were spotted Saturday night holding hands at a Knight’s Head Microbrew party at the South Beach haunt Mokai. Later in the evening, Williams, 26, and Common, 36, were once again spotted holding hands, trying to get into Prive nightclub – but failed since Common (wearing shorts) violated the hot spot’s dress policy.”

Serena Williams successfully defended her title at the WTA Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. She beat Jelena Jankovic at Saturday’s final. This is Serena’s second title of the season and the 30th of her career.

Serena Williams remains champion of the Austrialian Open with a win against Australian Jarmila Gajdosova which will advance her to the second round. Despite the impressive win, Serena says she is still nursing a personal heartbreak after her boyfriend broke up with her.

Serena, who is 26-years-old posted a message on her blog stating she put her trust and faith in a boyfriend and got dumped:

       “Trust is something you vowed you would never do again, but slowly your heart comes out of its steel enclosure,” she wrote in the entry posted on her Web site www.serenawilliams.com Monday. “You feel like you can trust him, you feel as if everything you went through was for a reason, and the reason was to meet him.”      

She never reveals the name of her boyfriend throughout the blog, but we know the last man she dated was actor Jackie Long, who played the character Esquire in the film “ATL.” Serena also said that as “weeks turn into months” her patience with getting him to perform one seemingly simple task has worn thin.      

       “No, not [say] the ‘L’ word, but what you have been most afraid of,” she wrote. “What deep in your heart you have been afraid to confront. What you always suspected would happen one day sooner or later. HE STOPS CALLING. You panic.” …. “eventually you know you will find the keys to your heart, but also in the back of your mind you think … will it happen again?”      

She also wrote about the changes the break-up brought to her life.      

       “I decided to rid myself of relationships that could stop me from reaching the main goal which is being the best,” she wrote. “I did not want anything to stand in my way of doing what I do best, which is playing tennis.”      

The book she found comfort in was “Who Moved My Cheese?” by motivational author Spencer Johnson, who likens mice in a maze hunting for cheese to humans searching for happiness and success.      

       “Basically, it was talking about complacency and being afraid of change,” Williams wrote. “I then realized that I was afraid to change, afraid to move on. I was afraid to find new cheese! I thought there was only one cheese out there but after reading that book I realized that there is all types of cheese out there.”

RUMOR HAS IT that tennis superstar Serena Williams is expecting a BABY! Is there something in the AIR! Well, word around the U.S. Open is that Serena’s father is telling everybody that he is expecting a grandchild. Supposedly, Serena’s boyfriend Jackie Long has been telling industry folks that he has a baby on the way too! This HAS NOT been confirmed, but we will keep you apprised!

For the third straight Grand Slam quarterfinal, Justine Henin proved to be the 5-foot-5 obstacle Serena Williams could not get past. No. 1 Henin broke up a possible Williams sister semifinal at the U.S. Open Tuesday night, breaking Serena’s serve three times for her first win ever against her rival on hard courts, 7-6(3) 6-1. “I’ve got to go back and study and figure out how to beat her,” Serena said. “I thought I was going to be able to recover. It just didn’t happen.”
