The Roots’ seventh group album, Rising Down, debuts at the top spot of Billboard’s ‘Top Rap Albums Chart’ this week with scans of 53,900 copies in its opening week. Go Ahead Roots! The album features appearances from Common, Dice Raw and Saigon. Debuting at No. 2 is Lil Mama with her first solo effort titled V.Y.P. (Voice Of The Young People).  The set sold 18,600 discs in its first go-around. Rick Ross is right behind her sitting at No. 3.  Trilla reeled in 18,300 units this week.  After 9 weeks on the chart, the album has sold 484,000 copies. (more…)

Trina and Slip-N-Slide Records are celebrating the #1 debut of her fourth album Still Da Baddest. The album is currently the top album on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Charts. Still Da Baddest gives Slip-N-Slide their second #1 album in the past 30 days. “Slip-N-Slide Records has had a phenomenal year with two #1 albums in just under a month. We are ready to continue our winning streak and make history with Plies, Qwote, Camar and many more Slip-N-Slide Records’ artists,” said Ted Lucas, CEO of Slip-N-Slide Records.
