Usher’s mother is in trouble! LOL! She is being investigated by Dekalb County police because a driver for her Atlanta-based transportation company filed a complaint saying that she owes him $1,688.00 from a missing paycheck. TMZ reports that Jonetta Patton and her company JCarr Transportation are accused of scamming the limo driver while he worked during the recent BET Hip Hop Awards.

A rep for Jonetta’s company released a statement saying “The drivers were hired as independent contractors and are paid 30-45 days net when working on special events of the magnitude of the BET Hip Hop Awards that took place on Oct. 18th. (more…)

Victoria Secret Angels landed their wings in Miami Beach this past weekend. Singer Usher kicked off the Victoria’s Secret show Saturday, which featured 35 supermodels, some wearing angel wings. Models including Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima strutted down the runway at the newly renovated Fontainebleau Miami Beach during the show, which coincided with the opulent reopening of the hotel.

“The theme of the show is a return to glamour,” said company CEO Sharen Turney. “Victoria’s Secret is about sexy and the new sexy is glamorous for this season.”

I wonder if his wife, Tameka Foster-Raymond, would approve of this! LOL J/K. Well Usher delivered a “racy” performance with a female fan during his For Ladies Only: One Night Stand Tour last week! Check it out!

Usher released a new single entitled “Hush” which urges his fans to vote in this historic presidential election.

“Hush is about my awakening over the past 10 years to the social issues in our country and realising that I have a voice. As Americans we have the right to speak out about slow recovery in the Gulf Coast (after Hurricane Katrina), a long war and home foreclosures. But complaining isn’t enough, you have to also take action. Whether serving at the homeless shelter or going to the polls for the first time, you have to act or else Hush”, Usher explains.

The Parents Television Council (PTC), the Enough is Enough Campaign for Corporate Responsibility, the National Congress of Black Women, and Industry Ears were very happy that BET decided to boot off  “Rap City.”      

PTC and Enough is Enough Campaign’s recently did a study of daytime music video programming from BET and MTV and the result as of March 2008 indicated that children who watched BET’s “Rap City” and “106 & Park” and MTV’s “Sucker Free” were bombarded with adult content which were sexual, violent, profane or obscene once every 38 seconds.        

Check out the official statement by PTC President Tim Winter; Enough is Enough Campaign Founder Dr. Delman Coates; National Congress of Black Women Chair Dr. E. Faye Williams; and Industry Ears Co-Founder Paul Porter:

“We are heartened by the recent changes at BET, and we are gratified that our collective efforts were a catalyst for this positive change. It is apparent that our voices were heard by the public, by the corporate sponsors who underwrite television programming and by BET network executives.  Parents across this country want a cessation of marketing harmful, graphic and offensive images to children.  But let us be clear about our goal: we are not trying to get a particular show cancelled or a particular executive fired.  Rather, our goal is a reduction in the harmful and offensive messages on BET and MTV programming – especially when the programs are targeted at children.  We have called for the networks to take responsibility for their products, and this program’s cancellation is evidence of a step in the right direction.”

Usher’s upcoming tour may be titled “One Night Stand: Ladies Only” but it doesn’t mean that men will be turned away at the door. According to a Jive spokesperson, although ladies may be the focus of the tour, men are more than welcome to attend the shows. Then why make the headliner “Ladies Only” LOL!

Word on the street, R&B’s top guns are gearing up for the “Swagger Like Us”:R&B Edition. Yup, you heard right, the R&B world wants to show off their swagger as well. Ok ladies, I know your itching to find out who plans to lay their swaggerific vocals over the Kanye production, so here it goes. Peep Usher’s New Video for “Trading Places”

Usher has revealed the dates and cities of his highly anticipated ‘One Night Stand’ tour. The tour, which will be sponsored by Sony Ericsson, will launch in Atlantic City, New Jersey on November 2nd and wrap up in Dallas, Texas on November 25th.

“I’m so looking forward to getting out there and doing what I do best…up close and personal.  I have a long-term partnership with Sony Ericsson that started back in March this year,” said Usher via a statement.  “This tour is the next phase in our relationship – and I am delighted to have them out on the road with me as the headline sponsor of the ‘One Night Stand Ladies Only’ tour.”
