Quincy Jones who owned VIBE, is super upset that the magazine which was founded in 1993 by himself, has folded. The legendary music mogul says that he will attempt to buy back the brand he created but later sold to a private company. However, Quincy says don’t expect VIBE to be a print magazine though. “I’m trying to buy my magazine back now,” the star — who is still recovering from the death of his dear friend Michael Jackson — told EbonyJet.com in a Tuesday phone call. Well, they better send me a refund on my subscription! LOL! We hear that the popular urban magazine which launched in 1993 by the legendary Quincy Jones will be shutting its doors. “On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today,” said Danyel Smith, former Chief Content Officer of Vibe Media Group and Editor in Chief of Vibe. “We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news,” Smith said in a statement. Rapper Plies graces the cover of Vibe Magazine’s December issue. It’s Plieeees Babbbbay! LOL! Do you think Plies is sexy?

Vibe’s November issue has Barack Obama on the front cover…It’s their “Historic Collector’s Issue” in which Barack Obama’s cover story urges readers to vote. Obama says, “We are at a defining moment in our history…I am running for president to take this country in a new direction. But I can’t do it alone. I need you. Whether it’s the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4.” Vibe has also endorsed Obama which marks as the magazine’s first presidential endorsement ever!

Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith says, “…I am clear about what must be done. The staff is behind me. This is a formal endorsement, by VIBE magazine, of Senator Barack Obama…”

Ciara is still fussing over those Vibe nude pics. In an interview with MTV she says that she really had underwear on during the photo shoot. It’s “very, very upsetting and somewhat misleading,” she told MTV News. (see video interview below)

Vibe Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith tells a different story. She said that Ciara was completely nude for the shoot and the whole thing was her idea! Who’s lying here man!

“I have so much respect for Ciara, and Ciara was so happy when she pitched this idea to us, and the photos are actually striking and beautiful,” Smith said during an interview with New York’s KISS-FM. “It was pitched to me in a way that it was time [for her] to grow up and be beautiful and be free and be all the things she wanted to be.”

Ciara said that the photo shoot was suppose to celebrate “human form”. She explained that after the pictures were taken of her, she felt great, but when she saw the end results on the printed magazine she realized that something was missing….HER UNDERWEAR! LOL

“When I saw the pictures, that wasn’t what was discussed or what we were going in to do, so that definitely bothered me,” she told MTV. “I think the body is something beautiful, and I wanted to celebrate that. And unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly what it was in the photo shoot, and I’m looking forward to moving forward.” (more…)
